You would expect that the government would be able to have an app created that worked. Unfortunately not.
Not Fit For Purpose
Completely useless - sent ages going round in circles trying to verify my identity. Frankly, completely hit and miss. Needs to serious rework.
I don’t understand the app
What is it for? Does it do anything? It feels like just collection of links to gov.uk website

I would give it no stars but apparently one has to provide the government with a tiny bit of hope.
Waste of time
Spent ages setting it up to update my driving licence for 70 years, says it’s quick and easy to do online NO ITS NOT! got so far only to be told I can’t go any further I went back re-entered all details again only for same message to come up I decided to just fill in the form and send it that way.
Worse than disgusting
Constantly transferred between the app, and then a browser web page, and then back to the app, then another browser web page, then back to the app… then my password is wrong and needs to be changed even though it isn’t and doesn’t. Disgusting heap of ****.
Dreadful app
This app is appalling, it sends you in a constant circle asking you to sign into the app in order to continue, all while using the exact app it is insisting you use. Do not ever consider using their AI feature as that is utterly dreadful.

Just a collection of links pointing to existing websites and a data harvesting AI chatbot

No doubt this app cost me the taxpayer a fortune and what does it do? Good question
To start with I have to create a new account, have the app designers not heard of the gov gateway acct?
Once inside i thought i could see all my cars and driving license , No that would be helpful. direct link to my HMRC acct, No. All it does is take me to web pages !!!!

Setting up and using app
I managed (2nd attempt) using my IPad and Samsung phone to set up and use the app today to renew my driving licence.
This app asked for info and codes which went to my Samsung.
No keyboard appeared on the app on my IPad and I had to keep typing the required info on my Notes and then copy and paste them to this app.
I also had to scan my passport chip with my phone. It didn’t seem to be working, as had happened on my previous attempt. Then I removed the Samsung’s cover and that proved to be the reason as it then worked.
It was so much easier last time I did in 2003. I would add I am tech savii so usually do not have a problem with using online services.

Can’t even log in
Try to log in for HMRC-> takes me to the ID check app-> I need to return to gov uk app to link the two-> need to check my id again -> repeat. Most useless garbage I have ever used. Fire your freshly hired computer science students and 1.merge all 3 apps into one 2.sort out the system

Gov.uk app is great to check benefits and good and convenient for daily use all day everyday recommend to everyone so easy to use amazing mobile app in your pocket good for on the go text clear to see

Downloaded this as I thought it could be used to access your online account portal and journal etc instead of using a browser but you can’t - lots of very good information but the app could be so much more

Awful Security
Supposed to be a secure app but when you go to log in, there’s a warning the app / log in website doesn’t even support HTTPS security! Absolutely awful
Why?
As others have said, what is the point of this app? It’s just full of links to the website.
Also, will not run on my iPad - just crashes without opening (uninstall, reinstall, restart - nothing resolves the issue).

Needs more R&D into app itself
app should have direct access to Universal Credit account, as well payments/statements for other benefits such as PIP including commitments and show to send messages to job/work coach and journal
Appears to be copy of website?
I tried to find advantages to the app over the website. Maybe there are some but I couldn’t find any, so I will likely never use this as prefer website and have deleted the app.
Not as advertised
The pre app release videos for this app looked really promising and suggested we were getting something similar to the apps that have been available in countries like Poland and Estonia for years. It showed a user flicking between their vehicle details, tax details etc. None of this is actually accessible in the app and when you click on something it essentially takes you to the government website for that service to browse through as normal. What a disappointment. Not an app or useful.
