What's New in GPS Location

1.12

June 5, 2017

This update from Apple will improve the functionality of this app. No new features are included. Thanks for the great feedback. We changed some things to make GPS Location better: - The share & copy menus on the iPad now work again. Because, you know, they should work. - In the last version, if you were checking out your awesome GPS Location (that little blue dot) and you moved the map around with your finger, the app turned the GPS off and stopped showing your location. We changed things so that your location is shown whenever it's on the screen. You can still toggle tracking your position with the crosshairs button just like before. - Fixed a crash snuck into the last version. Before if you went to the share menu then told the app to save a screenshot, the app would crash instead of saving the photo. That's just not right. Fixed! - Kicked the map crosshairs so that they're in the right spot on the iPad. Thanks to all our awesome users! Please shoot us an email at support@acceleroto.com if you find any problems.

Absolutely must-have app

Screenshot your coordinates & altitude when at a special location! FANTASTIC!

Great app. Missing one feature.

Great app. Missing a star in this review because it is not yet possible to cache a map of an area you will be going to that does not have cell coverage. I like to take screen shots of GPS Location

Very versatile.

I use GPS for all sorts of things including navigation when I am piloting my plane. I have depended on it for years. It is very straightforward and easy to use.

Great GPS app

I’ve tried many, and they’re all so bloated with stuff you don’t need. This has the basics down pat. Shows you your gps coordinates out to 5 decimals, and let’s you “move” the crosshairs to a location where you can send someone the location of anywhere you designate…even if you’re not actually there yourself.

However, I downgraded by one star because the heading function uses magnetic north and not true north, with no option to change it (or at least accept the setting on the phone for try north). It’s super great to include that…it’s useful as a compass. But without declination it’s off by 11 degrees or so.

FAQ

What does the GPS Location app do?

This app displays your current geographical location, the exact date, and the time down to the second on an interactive map. It allows you to easily share your precise coordinates with others through various communication methods like SMS, email, and social media platforms.

How can I share my location with others?

You can share your current coordinates via SMS (text message), email, Twitter, Facebook, or Weibo. When sharing via email, Twitter, or Facebook, the app also attaches a screenshot of the map around your location for visual reference.

What are the different coordinate formats supported?

The app shows coordinates in three different formats: Degrees-Minutes-Seconds (DD-MM-SS.S), Degrees-Minutes (DD-MM.MMM), and Decimal Degrees (DD.DDDDD), all displayed in the WGS84 datum. Elevation is also provided in both feet and meters.

Is this app suitable for all iOS devices?

While the app functions on most iOS devices, iPod Touches and Wi-Fi-only iPads do not have built-in GPS receivers. Therefore, their location accuracy may be reduced compared to devices with dedicated GPS hardware.

What is the cost of this application?

The application is available for free. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned, indicating a completely free user experience.
