Buggy app

Very buggy. Sound constantly cuts out. Poor AI translations.

Not worth it

Nice idea but not worth paying for. I canceled through settings in the app and I better not get charged. Seeing reviews about people getting charged after canceling in the free trial makes me suspicious. I hate apps that are set up like this.

After full access, still need to pay more for recipes

After pay for full access, that wants you to pay more to see other recipes.

Predatory

Gives you no free content whatsoever and forces you to subscribe before finishing sign up, also not sure if it was just me but the only option they gave me was for the 100$ year purchase

Doesn’t tell you cost before you sign up

I never got to use the app so I can’t comment on the content, but I’m annoyed that it forces you to sign up for free and of course signs you up to a potential subscription without giving you the cost up front. Felt like a con so I backed out and deleted the app. It’s a shame that you can’t try it without doing this step.

I should have read the reviews first

The ads are misleading. I can’t find the recipes they were showing in the ads that is why I signed up. Now I am hooked into a $129 payment with an app with just nice food pictures on it. It is just a waste of money and can’t refund.

Regarding the refund, subscriptions purchased via Apple need to be requested directly through the App Store, as they manage all billing. I really hate “free trial” models

Free trial models are so annoying. I do get that these apps have high quality content and need people to pay to maintain that. However, it feels like these apps are relying on people forgetting that the 7 day trial is up or being too lazy to cancel, and generating income that way. What would be MUCH better is delivering value (having some content be free) and then letting people opt in to paying once the value has been demonstrated!! Real bummer because I really wanted to try this app.

The fact that the recipes take 45 seconds and they are so simple and yet elaborated enough to a nice restaurant.

Lagging

Most videos lag. Some videos are incomplete, good thing the recipes are complete. Otherwise this new version is much much better than the old version and is a lot cheaper too.

Cool ideas, bad user experience

I want to like the app, and as a career chef, I love browsing interesting ideas and techniques. However, the app experience really gets on my nerves. First of all, you can’t avoid the videos autoplaying. I hate autoplay video. It’s takes over whatever you were listening to when you launch the app. Secondly, there’s no way to print or export the recipes in any way. When I want to try a recipe from Gronda, I usually end up writing the recipe by hand. I prefer to import recipes into other apps where I can take notes and refer to them later. Another nitpick is that it’s not very good at searching recipes by ingredient, or technique. It would also be nice to search recipes by equipment, such as thermomix or pacojet. Hopefully the experience improves before my next renewal comes due.

Needs proofreading !

The recipes are inspiring but the spelling errors are glaring. “Howers” instead of “hours”? Poke “wholes” the instead of “holes”? I could go on. One could attribute this to the fact that maybe not all chefs know how to spell, but the errors are so consistent across the recipes that they cannot be attributed to individual chefs. For the amount of money they’re charging I think they can afford proofreaders.
