Blind Spot is a weak gimmick that depends on garbage MAGA news sources to function. Without those the gimmick breaks, and so does the $40/yearly illusion.
Parrot-source news article repeats are RAMPANT! (a bug, not a feature) It’s 2026 and you can’t filter out repeating sources of the same articles, nor will you let me do so? Lame!
Articles commonly appear in wrong tab, Sponsored Ads and opinion articles posing as news are present in feed daily. Corrupt views of criminals are NOT NEWS. This is a sloppy, poor excuse of an app.
DEVELOPER, do NOT respond to me again in any form other than fixing the above mentioned bugs and I won’t bother making a competing app for $.99/month that makes a mockery of your attempt. Thanks

App Problems
This review is for the functionality of the app, not the content. I like the content in concept, but the app I downloaded doesn’t match the interface in the picture for the app. My friend has this app and got me to download it, but his app is totally different than mine. Also he sent a link that had a discount code, but there was no where to enter it. Finally, I initially signed up as Premium (the only option at sign up) but then upgraded via Apple subscriptions to Vantage (what my friend has) thinking it would get me the app like his with substantially better features, but my app and experience is basically the same as before. I don’t know what I got for the Vantage upgrade. Very confusing sign up/upgrade process

Don’t want to pay for news
As soon as I saw the ad for the app I thought “Wow, this seems great!” There’s a whole section as soon as I open the app to choose what types of news I’m interested in, and it explains about the “no catering” deal with leaning neither right or left, which I think is great.
But then after I make my choices, it hits me with the “Start Free Trial”.

Badge Sync Issue on iPadOS
This app has had an issue with the notification badge on iPadOS for several weeks. After launching the app, reading and/or deleting all alerts, and then closing it, the notification badge remains. Reopening the app and checking Notifications displays the message, “You currently have no new alerts to read!” After closing the app a second time, the badge finally disappears.
The app was updated today, but this bug still has not been fixed.

Misleading Pay Walls
I clicked on a feature that said I had to upgrade to utilize. So I clicked upgrade and it took me to a screen that only obviously showed the Pro option. So I paid for it. Then I went back in the feature still wasn’t available and this time it told me I needed the Vantage level plan. So I had to pay for two overlapping plans to get what I wanted.

Not really free
I consider it false advertising when you say your app is free, but before I can sign up for the free period, I have to give you a credit card. That is not free. False advertising.
More balanced, informative
I really like this app. I have been trying for years to find news coverage I didn’t have to actively work on collating stories from across the political spectrum to get actual balanced news. The apps either skipped whole topics because I had to pick favorite topics or drowned me in junk.
With this app I can see at a glance the nonpartisan summary of that is being reported as well as who is reporting what and view multiple stories on a topic quickly. I can the easily see news outlets reporting that story ti drill down further with multiple sources to see HOW things are being reported.
It shows me how unbalanced the reporting is at a glance in the slider and whether it is a complete blind spot which of course makes me curious to find out more!!
I really appreciate this concept as someone in the middle who thinks extremists of all kinds hurt us all. It’s valuable to educate yourself on all sides of a story and not just live in an Echo chamber.

Canadian-Bias Headlines
Finally had enough of unproven bias being put into the headlines/alerts and their bullet points. I looked into complaining and found it is a Canadian owned and operated company.
I don’t mind journalists being biased but I do mind having a bias and either claiming you don’t or are biased to a different political leaning. That’s dishonest and unethical.

Full version better than the App,
I’m getting use to the ground news format, read on my laptop, so I decided to download the app, for my IPad, sorry, much less ease of reading and getting to left/right bias. I think I’ll stay with my laptop version. Maybe the app will evolve?

If you want to be assured that what you’re reading is accurate, choose Ground News. You’ll also learn where the info. came from and its editorial/political slant. This makes this outlet an invaluable news source!
Free trial?
Why are we not able to try this for 7 days for free as it states? Then we can decide if it is something we would like to subscribe to. To be told to give access to our Apple account prior to even reading an article is preposterous. We’re all aware of the “cancel at any time” rule but why even go this route? I had heard good things about Ground News and wanted to try it out but not by giving access to Apple funds. Based on this I have deleted the app due to false advertising.

Skeptical at first
Once trying the app for a few days for free, I’m hooked. There’s one thing I either haven’t found or isn’t in the app would be footnotes or companion notes on articles with mixed or low factual ratings what points/sections were found to be non factual. That would make it a 10 star app and I’d pay double!

I love this app. It provides multiple opportunities to substantiate news from all sides of the spectrum and even provides bias ratings if you wish.
Much better than a news feed that only shows you one side of the political spectrum or only stories that reflect your own bias. Essential to being an informed citizen of the world.

Hard to cancel
Disappointed in the cancellation process. Had to click on multiple buttons to cancel on multiple screens. It shouldn’t be this hard. I tried to cancel the other day and thought I had, however I only clicked three cancel buttons and missed the fourth, therefore I missed the cutoff window and got charged for a full year. Very discrete business practice.
