All Good Things Turn Bad
When I first downloaded Ground News a year ago, I felt like this was the news app I had been looking for. I was tired of the blatant bias in media on both sides. Ground News was a refreshing alternative where you could see the top stories and how both sides were sinning the news. My feed felt very balanced between stories “For the Right” and “For the Left”.
However, in the last few months, as with most “news” media, the Top Stories and my feed in general have been heavily catered to the left. My feed is about 90% positive left and 10% positive right. This app seems to have a clear political affiliation and it is sad to see.

Exactly as advertised
Everyone should be using this as their main news source
Perfect way to keep up with all the news and to keep an eye on bias.
So glad to have found discovered this app, it more than an app with website is great too. Every morning I get my digest of the last 24 hours, and articles that are generally important.
My only niggle would be the summary tone of voice that is cliché AI.

Not too useful
Expensive and doesn’t really accomplish anything. Anyone with average critical thinking skills or better doesn’t need this app at all. You still can’t read paywalled articles so the app is pointless if you have basic reading comprehension.
Truly a non-partisan view into today’s news cycle
Ground News doesn’t tell you what to think, it shows you who is covering a story (and how the framing differs by bias). The Blindspot feature alone justifies the app: it flags stories that are getting heavy coverage on one side and near silence on the other, which is the fastest way I’ve found to catch my own gaps in information. Independent, subscriber-funded, no-algorithm BS. Worth checking for yourself.

Degraded
Used ti be a great news app, but its been on a downward slide for a long time and now feels just like a random ai slop machine. It repeats the same stories over and over, doesn’t seem to to recognise what is important or even what country you are in, so it just floods your feed with random local stories from countries you don’t care about, while completely ignoring actual major international stories.
I used to use and recommend this app religiously to everyone, but its come time to uninstall.

Just as bad as every other news source.
They recently reported the cost of regular gas “the highest ever for the Labor Day weekend at $4.14, higher than the $3.85 in 2012. While that may be true in absolute terms it does not account for inflation. Adjusting the 2012 $3.85 to 2026 dollars (using CPI) gives $5.55 per gallon. It’s very disappointing that ground news is simply another click based news source.

Ground news links to more pay to view
What is the point of paying for a new service, when that new service aggregates links which require further payment. I would’ve assumed that Ground News is sharing revenue so that all the stories being displayed are free for its users to view.

Neutral? Maybe…
This app implies that it is neutral, but the headlines of the articles lean pretty Left. It shows you the impact on both sides, but what it cherry picks is often pretty Left. I’m trying not to jump to a bait & switch, but also trying to give it a better chance after several months. Time will tell if we are in fact unable to escape an agenda from all sides.

Fake Headlines Getting Annoying
The the untrue flashy headlines you keep putting over articles are starting to get ridiculous you’re almost worse than the conservative “liberal” news media

I just downloaded it and am learning to use it. I can tell this will be how I read my news from now on. I feel informed and I do not get triggered by spin. Thank you for designing this for people like me. Cancelling my “center” subscriptions.
Game Changer
Ground News has been a game changer for me. With a degree in history, I was taught about bias, sources, and the importance of objectivity years ago. The genius of Ground News is its commitment to tracking bias while still presenting all sides of the spectrum. Also genius is the presentation of news in summary format (similar to an Abstract in a scholarly journal) with the option to do a deeper dive into full articles identified as left, center, right. It’s transparency of metrics and their use make it an incredibly credible source. In sum, Ground News has provided a way to quickly and reliably stay informed.

Customer service is top notch!
I had managed to confuse the system by signing up for a free account then the next day signing up for a year. I got stuck in the free account. When I reached out to GN support, they helped me resolve the issue and I am now up and running in the app with my paid subscription. The support is over the top!! And the news is solid, showing all view points, and their sources. Excellent!!!

Good all round coverage
The only reason I gave it a 4 is because it sometimes sends you to sites that have a paywall and the article can’t be read without a subscription.

I’ve been using this app/website for years. I like knowing there’s a place to go for trusted news.
I am disappointed, and frustrated. That Generative AI, has now been implemented into the app. All other problems with AI aside. AI at its current state will guess and fabricate information. It is unreliable. Any use of AI makes the program unstable and untrustworthy information. It doesn’t matter how little it’s involved, because now I know that any information for Ground News, can and likely will be falsified.
I do hope this changes in the future but in the meantime, I can no longer use this app.

Great News Source
I feel like this publication gives many sides of an issue; not just one. It is great independent journalism which I feel deserves our support. Customer service is excellent, quick and sincere. It’s the kid of publication that we should all support!
