This is a terrible app

A very frustrating UX.

Slow app navigation

The app is really slow to navigate and it’s really frustrating and annoying to hit refresh a million times just to load chats as it keeps on crashing.

Elegant and simple

Guild does everything it’s designed for superbly. Clean and stylish UI and intuitive UX where whatever you need is exactly where it should be. Performance is responsive and stable, and I’ve found it equally impressive on desktop and mobile.
Highly effective tool for bringing communities together to share ideas and conversations, organise events, DM, etc. Much better and much more versatile than Slack, Mighty Networks or WhatsApp.

Can’t create a profile using the app

Followed the required steps which include uploading a profile pic. However, when selecting the ‘choose from camera roll’ button, the Guild app shows a completely empty Photos app. Tried to take action on the “Tip” which suggested uploading a selfie but there’s no functionality for that within the app’s profile creation. Very strange.

Reads the clipboard on app load

This app reads from the clipboard when it loads. This is unnecessary and in my view an unacceptable privacy practice. I will modify this review if this issue is address by the Guild developers.

Endless loop of signup and account confirmation

Very buggy app

Response from developer

Sorry to hear you had this problem. It doesn't happen on the web version but we have had others report this on the mobile app occassionally for particular versions of iOS. It is a problem between Firebase (a Google technology we use for deep links) and iOS that occurs sometimes - we hoped that recent versions of iOS would resolve this but clearly not in your case. We will look into alternate solutions.

Shouldn’t have to install an app to unsubscribe to emails

I simply wanted to unsubscribe to the emails i was getting from this service, but couldn’t do so without reinstalling the app.

Response from developer

Hi there - you don't need to reinstall the app as you can do it via the web version i.e. change your settings online. But you are right that for our newsletter you can unsubscribe in one click whereas for email notifications from app users these are enabled/disabled within the app as there are various types (@ mentions, message digests etc.). If you didn't want any communications then probably easiest to leave the group(s) you were in or completely delete your Guild account? We can also then work on one-click/tap based unsubscribes for each type of email alert.

Great messaging service

Excellent messaging service, and abolishes those fears over Zoom bombing, Facebook voyeurism, poor uptime and stolen information - with good security and independent ownership

Secure and professional WhatsApp

We wanted a secure, private and professional version of WhatsApp, and that’s Guild. Effortless sign up, beautiful and intuitive experience with all the backend admin for whatever level of group. Outside of the corporate version also using for managing an advisory board and a parent-teacher committee.

Professional messaging like it should be

Guild is a marriage of the best parts of LinkedIn and WhatsApp, done right, privacy focussed and made for professionals who want to leverage their contacts to build value as opposed to volume.

Great app, the privacy aspect is hugely important to me

I love Guild, great app for collaboration and private communication. The ability to have profiles, threads, structured conversations is winner for me. Also on the privacy front the business can be trusted to do the right thing with your data unlike What’s app who aren’t compliant with many data regulations and when it comes to business / confidential conversations / group chat just isn’t trusted enough.

Very slick and user-friendly

It’s refreshing to escape the noise of WhatsApp to something more obviously designed for business professionals. Very user-friendly and slick, and great to have user profiles.

Using for alumni group

Perfect for our group. Fast, secure, intuitive to use

A premium feel over other messaging apps

Guild fills the void left by the larger players by creating a professional app for messaging and communities.

I much prefer it to WhatsApp which is filled with all and sundry, and to LinkedIn messages that can feel rather stilted and one dimensional. The privacy element also makes me feel confident in using the app - it doesn’t upload my address book like WhatsApp or even Amazon Alexa does.

WhatsApp for professionals

A great alternative to WhatsApp and much more enjoyable to use than LinkedIn.

Easy to use and install and has been very useful so far.

Great alternative to WhatsApp, built for professional engagement

I run a Women's entrepreneur breakfast club every Friday. I use this app to continue discussions post-breakfast. It’s got a premium feel to it and makes my guests feel extra special. I would definitely recommend for anyone that hosts similar events on a regular basis!
