What happened

This app’s functionality changed for the worse. It is now clunky and unhelpful. Bring back the old version or at least an option to switch to the old UI.

Update

10 + years with this app. At first, like many, I wasn’t too happy. But, after importing all my previous workouts and evaluating the app since the update, I am very pleased with the new features, addition of motion for many of the exercise previews, being able to change workout parameters, minutes, reps only, etc. Also, the Apple Watch integration is much better. I have tried a few other gym apps and this one is still my app of choice.

Great app, but

App worked just perfect for many years that I’ve been using it. Then developers try to fix something that wasn’t broken and it broke. I absolutely hate the new “better” version as it does all the wrong things, somehow there are 2 of me now, can’t copy my workout, only edit or create new one and constant app freeze. Stop “fixing” and un-fix back to previous version.
** update, app is even worse now. It glitches, its slow, it forgets the sound of the end of a set ….it was good while it was untouched. I will never again sponsor anything from this developer.

Old Version Better

Gone through several updates since the format was changed, still do not like this app as much as I did in the earlier version. They took away a couple of the things I like most about this app like being able to see rest between sets in previous workouts and the current workout. And then they added so many features that are more obnoxious than they are useful. For example: I have two leg days in my current program and I do leg extensions both workouts, except that in one routine I do 2 sets and the other I do 4. But now when I’m on my 4 set day it shows what I did on my 2 set day and as soon as I finish my second set it skips to the next exercise, so I have to keep scrolling back. And the feature that automatically moves you to the next exercise itself is also terrible, I like to compare how I did with previous workouts and it moves to the next one before I get a second to look at the numbers. I find myself scrolling back often, when in the old version I could just scroll over when I was ready. Also, the superset button is in the worst spot. At least 3 times I’ve inadvertently hit it and then when I’m waiting for the bell to ring for my next set I end up taking longer rest periods than I wanted because the bell doesn’t ring during supersets. Editing your sets is not very intuitive, there used to just be a big edit button if you typed the wrong weight or reps, it took me two weeks to realize you have to hold the set down to make changes. The little arrow just takes you to stats. Why would I think that holding it down would open the edit option? Overall, change is still more bad than good

Best True Lift Tracker

I’ll be 49 in a few days and I’ve been using this app for years- it’s been amazing. It’s easy to track and log sets and exercises, but it’s just as easy to completely change your routines and workouts.
Their complete app update made everything better without compromising the functionality of the previous iteration. Best lifting tracker on the Market.

Bring back the old version

A lot of the great old
Features have not been replicated. Clunky to use and slow latency at time. Hopefully will be improved in future updates.

Some more updating needed

This is my favourite app, but the recent overhaul and facelift still needs some tweaks:-

“Finish Workout” - arbitrary, easy to miss, too much click-through to get there. Just let us finish and be done.

“Workout in Progress” - needlessly restrictive, especially when swapping between workouts on ad hoc days. Old system worked fine enough in this regard.

Update isn’t great

The old app had a lot of useful features like 1 rep max , max weight done, max reps done etc and a star and sound would occur whenever you accomplished a record…all of that has been removed with the update I’m not sure who thought of this update but clearly they don’t work out I have had the original app for over 7 years such a disappointment…….thanks for the response updated my review still prefer for it to be u def the exercise so everything is seen at once instead of having to go into each particular exercise therefore lack of 5 star review

Love it

I’ve been using this app for years, love it for simplicity and price. And loads of functionality for a gym user who just wants to plan and track their workouts. Don’t need lots of motivational claptrap and fancy graphics.

My only complaint is that the description and the graphics for the exercise don’t always tally. This would be an easy improvement for the developer to do progressively, just clean up the database of exercises. Do that and this gets 5 stars

The upgrade is good, importing history is easy - just check if you have multiple profiles since the upgrade doesn’t select by default your most recent and so you may think you’ve lost all those routines you developed and the associated history. You haven’t, just select the latest profile. And if you are new to the App, is irrelevant !!

general good app, but text size an issue

good app, but if you have larger text size as your default, you can't see half of the buttons and weights to log reps

Not loving new UI changes

I have been using this app for probably about a couple years now and I really loved it. It was really easy to switch between workouts. It was easy to documents my set and reps pretty much everything about it was simplicity with a bunch of extra features that you realize you didn’t realize you’d love. Now it’s so difficult for me to navigate between exercise exercises. I can’t even figure out how to end a workout I’m doing, it’s so difficult to even just navigate between exercise exercises compared to before I’m not really sure what happened but probably gonna start looking for alternatives.

Love the app

Every works after update.

Have had this app for 4+ years

I was initially disappointed with the recent update, but they made some changes to bring back features that were removed from the original. Love the app again 💪

Excellent app

Really focused on the workout, not on the user interface as most of other logging apps I tried.

I had a single problem with transitioning to the new version: lost all previous data - until notified “import legacy data” option in the description.

In the previous version I used to use graphical statistics: total weights (volume) for a specific routine over time. I could not find it in the new version. I’d expect it in “history”, but did not see it.

Update: I was very pleased with the author’s quick response to my review and feedback. The resulting app update improved one of the most visible features: ui for editing vs executing exercises.

Update

Hate the update!! I like to throw an ab set in between others such as legs. It makes me “Finish” my leg workout before I can log anything else. Then I have to start a new workout EVERY time. This thing is awful!!!

Excellent App & Outstanding Developer Support

I’ve been using Gym Log+ for many years and have always found it to be an excellent, straightforward app for tracking workouts. It does exactly what I need without making things unnecessarily complicated.

What really prompted me to write this review, though, was the exceptional support I recently received. I ran into an unusual issue involving my original Pro purchase and Apple Family Sharing. The developer took the time to understand the problem, clearly explained what was happening, and then went above and beyond by making a change to the app that completely resolved the issue for my family.

It’s increasingly rare to receive this kind of thoughtful, responsive support. You can tell that the developer genuinely cares about the app and the people who use it.

Great app and truly outstanding customer service. Highly recommended!

Terrible Update

Completely destroyed what was good and made it too complicated.

Used to Love this app for its simplicity and ease of use.

New version makes things more difficult.
Is there anyway to go back to old version?
