About

half is a half-frame stills camera. You take two vertical exposures, one after the other, and they become a single horizontal photograph. The first shot is always the left half. The second is always the right. There is no library import, no swapping halves after the fact, and no saving one side alone. HOW A PAIR WORKS You wait between the two shots on purpose. When the pair commits, half keeps both source frames and the finished photograph on the device. If you export, your photo library receives the diptych only. ROLLS Load film and length before frame one. Those choices stay locked for the rest of the roll. • Short: twelve finished pairs • Full: thirty-six finished pairs Advance after each pair. Finish the roll for a contact sheet in the archive, or abandon it with confirmation. Completed pairs stay. An unmatched half stays visibly unfinished. SEVEN FILMS Chosen when you load the roll. Same recipe on both halves of a pair; grain differs per exposure. • Everyday 200: warm color, lively reds, gentle shoulder • Daylight 100: clean daylight color, restrained saturation • Night 800: tungsten-aware color, visible grain • Slide 50: saturated greens and reds, deep contrast, fine grain • Reel 200: cinematic soft shoulder, lifted toe, gentle light bloom • Reportage 400: firm black and white midtones, open shadows • Press 400: classic silver grain, moderate contrast, open toe No strength sliders. The look is the look. PAIR LOCK AND THE FINDER Pair Lock can carry focus distance, white-balance intent, and exposure bias from the first half to the second. Where the device has more than one rear camera, each half can still use its own lens unless you change it or tap Match Left. Tap to focus and meter. Long-press to lock exposure and focus. Exposure compensation from -3 to +3 EV. Optional grid and live histogram for composition only. Volume buttons can fire the shutter. First-half reference: Off, Edge, or Ghost. Ghost is a finder overlay and never enters the finished file. JPEG ONLY Each exposure is a maximum-resolution JPEG from the active rear lens. Finished pairs are wide-gamut JPEG photographs. An sRGB share copy is optional. No RAW capture in this version. ON YOUR DEVICE No account. No analytics or tracking SDKs. No cloud processing. No location permission. Photographs stay on the device until you export or erase them. PERMISSIONS • Camera: required for the finder and both halves of every pair. • Photo library: add-only when you choose to save finished pairs or contact sheets. half does not read your existing library. YOUR DATA Delete completed rolls from the archive. About, then Erase all half data removes every roll, pair, and preference on this device after confirmation. Copies already in your photo library must be deleted there. SUPPORTED HARDWARE • Multi-camera devices: native rear lenses with per-half selection. • Single-camera devices: one wide rear camera, no lens picker.
