Huge glitches.
Voiceover user. I watch movies on my phone, and I use a Bluetooth speaker when I’m not using earbuds. And for the past several months when I press pause on my Bluetooth speaker it starts playing the song that is paused on Pandora or Apple Music and then I press the play pause button again and it pauses instead of just pausing what I’m watching. The same thing happens when I double tap with two fingers to pause what I’m watching. And when I’m watching something and I go to the control center or notification center the controls for HBO Max are not there like they should be and the controls for what I was previously playing on other apps is. Now today when I was watching something when I would pause and leave the app or accidentally exit the playing screen and then go back to watching, it would start where it was paused the previous time instead of where I just paused it.
Since the boomerang streaming service doesn’t exist anymore, why didn’t the titles on that streaming service go somewhere else?
I’ve had HBO Max since December 2024. And until July 2025 I’ve only watched movies. I watched a TV show in July that was leaving at the end of July and at the end of every episode voiceover would countdown from 15 to 0 and then it would skip the last 15 seconds or so of each episode. Which in that series wasn’t a problem because it just had an end credits song that would play at the end of each episode. But in the second TV show that I started in early August there was no end credits song and the plot was still going when the 15 second countdown would cut off anywhere from 20 to 60 seconds off of each episode. I watched both of these TV shows on my phone.

Bad app
App constantly stops working. I have to uninstall and reinstall almost every time I open it, after not using it for a day or more.
Can’t remember where i left off
Constantly forgets where i last watched and then wont let me seek through the timeline without watching a million ads for Ro.

Scamming People with VPN Policy
HBO Max’s policy of blocking VPN users is completely unacceptable. I travel all around the country for work and depend on my VPN to help secure my devices while using hotel WiFi and other networks while I’m away from home. A VPN is a legitimate privacy and cybersecurity tool, yet HBO Max expects paying customers like me to disable that protection just to access a subscription we already pay for. It’s absurd.
I’m canceling my subscription. I also encourage other customers who value their privacy to consider doing the same. Companies pay attention when poor polices start costing them subscribers. Until HBO Max learns to respect paying consumers and their security choices, they do not deserve my money.

Ads are ridiculous, don’t use the app
With the cheapest plan containing ads you get an immeasurably worse experience using the mobile app than you do using hbo max on desktop. For a 50 minute long tv show you’ll spend 10 minutes watching ads on this app whereas on pc their much shorter. What a miserable experience.

horrible glitches lately
my ads are glitching and saying there's no ad on screen and can't pause it. when it finally pops up 1 out of 2 ads. it already played 3 without the little thing to tell u the time of the ad length. then once it goes back after every cut scene it sends u back to the first of the last scene after the ad then when i try to put it back where it was like 10 mins ahead it plays more ads then finally lets me watch it where i left off originally before the glitch. i tried re downloading. yes my internet is high speed and so is my data. idk what the hecks goin on with this but it's my favorite and it's kinda irritating me. also sometimes the pause button and the other stuff on the screen disappears and u can't fix it unless u go back and re click it.

Love HBO with a passion, joined when they advertised their $10 for 6 months sale and I’ve watched So Many great TV shows 👏🏻 there are some hbo series I wish were on there like Vikings for example but hey, I’m still happy with the wide variety they offer! Thanks HBO
