About
衛教書房 (Health Education Library) is a health education e-book app designed for international students in Taiwan. The app and its books are available in Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese only; English is not available inside the app.
This app is also the participation tool for a master's thesis study. Before you start, you will read a research consent form and receive a participant code. Your questionnaire answers and reading records are used for that study only.
READ HEALTH E-BOOKS
• Browse books by topic
• See each book's overview and chapter list, and start from any chapter
• Swipe through pages; the last page of a chapter takes you to the next one
• Reopen a book and return to the chapter and page where you stopped
• "Continue Reading" lists the books you have started, and "My Shelf" keeps the ones you save
PRACTICE AS YOU READ
Chapters include short exercises: single choice, multiple choice, ordering, matching, scenarios, image hotspots, and short answers. After you submit, you'll see your score and an explanation. When you come back, your previous result is shown, and whether you can try again depends on each exercise's settings.
SWITCH LANGUAGES ANYTIME
The interface and book content are available in Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese, and you can switch between them at any time.
OFFLINE READING
Download an entire book to your device and keep reading it if your connection drops. If you reopen the app without a connection, you currently need to reconnect before you can open the library. Exercises, questionnaires, and progress uploads require a network connection. Progress made while offline is uploaded once you reconnect; if you close the app while offline, that progress may be lost.
RESEARCH PARTICIPATION
• After you accept the consent form, you receive a participant code that links your pre- and post-questionnaires. Please keep it safe.
• If you change devices or reinstall the app, enter your participant code to continue as the same participant.
• Complete a pre-questionnaire before reading. The post-questionnaire opens after you finish the reading required by the study.
• While you're online, questionnaire answers are saved automatically as a draft, so saved answers are still there if you leave midway.
• The Progress tab shows chapters read, reading time, and completed exercises.
DEVICES
Works on iPhone and iPad in portrait and landscape.
PRIVACY
• No account sign-up. The app does not ask for your name, student ID, ID number, phone number, or email.
• The app collects your participant code, questionnaire answers, reading and exercise activity, and language setting for the study and app features. It also collects the device information needed for notifications.
• No ads, no in-app purchases, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
• See the privacy policy for details.
PLEASE NOTE
• This app provides general health education information. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or personal medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or other healthcare professional. If you feel unwell or have health concerns, please see a healthcare provider. In an emergency in Taiwan, call 119.
• Books, questionnaires, and exercises are loaded from the internet. The post-questionnaire opens according to the study's rules.
