Just ok

The app is ok but not the most user friendly. Why does the weekly total always say 0” when i earn inches each day?

Response from developer

We appreciate you reaching out with this feedback! We recommend closing out of the app completely and reopening. If that still doesn't work, please let us know by using the Contact Us link (Under Menu > Settings).

Allows rampant, widespread cheating

This app was used as a corporate wellness program during the winter holiday season. The premise is that every day you have 3 separate goals: walk 6000 steps, meet certain dietary goals, and a daily unique feel-good challenge. It’s a nice program in theory.

Teams are comprised of “4-5 people” who should strive to meet each goal daily to collect “inches” of snow. One problem of the app is that teams of four are given augmented help to make up for not having a fifth teammate.

The biggest flaw, however, is that people can not only manually edit their steps - bypassing the data connection to garmin, etc, but also completely edit their past performance.

This means that if a team missed a point and they're not in the lead, they can all go back in time to change their results for past days and the app will allow the edit.

This is all supposed to be a fun way to enjoy the holidays by being healthy but when corporations utilize the service and put big prizes up for the winners, there absolutely needs to be guardrails in place to prevent dishonesty.

Response from developer

Thanks for sharing your feedback, James. We greatly appreciate it! Please note that team score is determined by average, so teams of 4 and teams of 5 are scored by taking their total inches of snow and dividing it by the number of members. As far as backlogging goes, these parameters are set by your organization. We're happy to share this feedback and take it into consideration when discussing the program set up with organizations.

Could not connect

App is useless. Can't login even after changing password and trying several times. Would not recommend. Had to use Garmin which is robust enough to do what I needed. Do not waste your time.

Response from developer

I'm so sorry to hear you experienced difficulties with the app. If you're still having issues, please use the Help link at the bottom of the Health for the Holidays website.
