Not intuitive
Ap seems complicated to set up to phone and to use.
Data doesn’t transfer
After years of tracking weight on a fitness journey. I was stunned to see that my data for years didn’t transfer to new phone. No way to contact or trouble shoot issue so one star.
Go with My Tanita instead
This is a very poorly designed app. I have an RD-545 Inerscan sale that I purchased because of its high degree of accuracy as a consumer scale. However, for a clientele that is attempting to track health metrics, this support app is almost unusable. It took forever to get it to synch with the Health app on my iPhone. It is difficult to trend the results and the graphs they provide are difficult to read. I noticed that in addition to this app, there is another Tanita support app call My Tanita in the App Store with good reviews. I wrote to Tanita US asking if that would work OK and a one line response that the US product users need to use Healthy Edge Mobile. That is nonsense! I have now used both this Healthy Edge and the My Tanita app. The My Tanita app is vastly superior. I suggest that Tanita corporate seriously review their US representation before their brand is damaged. Again, the My Tanita works great and I am now very happy with the scale but forget about Healthy Edge Mobile.

The Good & The Bad
Their hardware (Tanita Body Composition Scales) are really great products and I have zero complaints with them. I owned an older Tanita model which worked well but later upgraded to their RD-901 scale simply because of its Bluetooth feature and the connectivity to the Apple Health app. The amount of data the scale captures is impressive!
Their software (Healthy Edge Mobile) however is truly a piece of junk that seems to me to be “abandonware”. It was about (8) years ago they made a small improvement to their Healthy Edge Mobile. No other improvements have been made and the last update was over (4) years ago and that was only because their app stopped working with the Apple Health app.
I love how well their Healthy Edge Mobile app integrates with the Apple Health app and this integration provides a solid solution indeed! However their Healthy Edge Mobile app has almost zero value without the integration with Apple Health.
Unfortunately that integration has stopped working (AGAIN). I alerted Tanita’s tech support about a month ago and thus far, there is no word on when (or even IF) they are going to fix their Healthy Edge Mobile app.
I hate to say it but if they are not going to fix their app, I will cease being a customer of Tanita.

Disturbing
Paid $500 for the scale. This is the only working app. Does not connect to register on the site. You can’t by going to the site either. Data display doesn’t fit the iphone screen. Does not print out correctly.
Has not been updated in 3 years. Unacceptable.

Terrible
This app is terrible it seems as though it has never been updated and all the information is wrong, the tech support is nonexistent I regret buying the scale.
So bad for SO LONG
I’ve had a Tanita scale for 10+ years. The app hasn’t changed since I first got it! So so so terrible with zero effort to fix it. Why? The scales are so good, how can the app be so bad? Do better Tanita.
Works seamlessly with Apple Health
Have been using this app and a TANITA Scale since 2017. Provides very valuable data that can be tracked in app but also connects to Apple Health. This is a very good app and scale combination. Using the multiple data points that it tracks, helps take control of a in depth understanding of how body composition changes over time, allowing a user to adjust their actions to impact results. TANITA was doctor recommended and they offer scales that are FDA cleared which helped me have confidence in their products.

Why don’t you do the same App as in Europe?
Update: after trying to use this App a couple of times I changed my mind and give it 1 star instead of 2.
P.s. I gave 5 stars to the Tanita App in EU

App depreciates the Tanita brand
This app is horrible and getting worse. Am now completely unable to download data from scale to phone. Tanita - please invest in the app or I will ditch the scale.
Doesn’t Sync with Apple Health, Results Inconsistent
I’ve owned this for a year now, and the various results such as body, fat, percentage of water, bone etc. are all inconsistent from weight to weight. It no longer links with Apple health. I do not recommend the scale if you’re interested in tracking your body fat along with your weight or if you’re interested in linking to Apple health.

App glitchy and no usable info for it’s touted features
I live in the Garmin app world, and I am familiar with performance oriented software. I’ve had this scale and app for about three weeks now, and while this app is more fun than just getting weight, if the performance of the app is anything like the performance of the scale, then don’t pay attention to any of it. I like to see the muscle quality increasing and I assume that’s good, but there’s no explanation for what this is about in the app, or how these readings are done, or what you should look for. You have to go out of the app and Google what Tanita readings mean, and Google takes you back to Tanitas information that is just not helpful and that is inconsistent. According to Google’s information on Tanita’s readings, I have an extremely high muscle quality but the app says average (next to that really high number) and I try to figure out what it’s doing and it apparently merges two numbers together but it doesn’t really tell you how or how it can get to an end result of average. Then the app glitches so that you can’t pull up prior measurements. It will highlight but not open and there’s no way to get it open even if you exit and go back in.
So get this if you just like having fun with these things, but don’t think that this is a really sophisticated piece of equipment — the app is the giveaway.

Terrible!
One of the worst pieces of software ever written. The scale I have (RD-901), which was not cheap, produces a huge amount of data that, other than the weight itself, is statistical and needs some sort of analysis over time. This app has terrible graphics, weird colors, weird selections, etc., etc., etc. To add insult to injury, the app cannot just send you a file with all the data, like a CSV, so that you could do the analysis yourself. I will never again buy a Tanita product.

It works but graphs are hard to read
I’ve had the 545PRO scale for 3 months. Love that the app receives data directly from the scale. My only complaint is that the graphs are hard to read; not enough contrast between yellow lines and white background. A darker color for the trend line would make it much easier to see and read.
Graphs hard to read
The app does not have a dark mode option or let you change colors on graphs. Yellow on white is used in most graphs and is not easy on the eyes. Would recommend an update to app
Terrible software
The Tanita 545 Pro may be the best currently available BIA body composition device, though it hasn’t yet been compared to a gold standard in any published research study.
However, the supporting software, including this app, Health for Tanita, and MyTanita, are dreadfully crude and underdeveloped, and has not been updated in more than 2 years. This calls into question their unsubstantiated claims regarding the accuracy of this $500 device and raises questions regarding long term commitment to BIA measuring devices for consumers.

Please fix sync!
If there are more than one reading stored in the scale, the app imports the last reading multiple times. The other readings are lost.
Also, PLEASE allow for data export to csv either in the app or on your website. I could do so much more with this data in excel.

Update
Does this app never get updated??
Poor App
For the amount of money for RD545 Pro, the Healthy Edge app is horrible. Last year I was told it would be improved, not true. If not for the $500 for scale, I would get another brand.
