hearsay - text to speech

hearsay reads your documents out loud. Add a PDF, an EPUB, a web article, or pasted text, press play, and listen while you do something else. The voice is generated on your phone by a neural text-to-speech model. Nothing you read is uploaded, and there is no account to create. Once a voice is downloaded, the app also works in airplane mode. While it reads, the current sentence stays highlighted so you can find your place at a glance. If you stop halfway through a chapter, hearsay remembers where you were and picks up there next time. You can import files directly, send pages over from Safari with the share sheet, or bring an existing reading list from Pocket, Omnivore, Readwise, or Instapaper. Playback keeps running in the background, with lock screen controls, adjustable speed, chapter navigation, and 15-second skips. People use hearsay for saved articles that never got read, course readings, long reports, manuals, and their own drafts. It was built for anyone who would rather hear a page than stare at it.
