App Frequently Does Not Work
I have noticed the app very frequently does not work. Sometimes it is very slow. Other times it’s “scheduled maintenance” that just suddenly happens, and you can’t log in or transfer money which has left me stranded multiple times without money in my checking. I do like the app layout but the functionality of the app is very poor.

Mobile check deposit still does not work
3/20/26 - had 10 checks to deposit today. EVERY ONE was stamped with my endorsement. First 7 went thru fine. Last 3, “no endorsement found.” It is the EXACT same as the other checks that worked, so this is obviously not me. Whoever is giving this app 5 stars is not using the check deposit functionality, because this is horrible. I’ve reached the point where am giving up and just go to the branch.
6/3/25 - this is really frustrating. I have a Heartland Bank expense check and mobile deposit won’t even accept that check. Again, “there is an issue with your deposit.” What is the issue? Would like to fix it, but not knowing the issue, makes that tough. Please actually have someone try to use this functionality so you can see had bad it is.
5/12/25 + Mobile check deposit still too glitchy. Error message “there is an issue, try again.” Tell me what the issue is so I can correct it, guess I’m going to the branch tomorrow.
Posted a review some time ago concerning lack of functionality of remote deposit.
Tried today (4/14/22) hoping there would be some improvement. After 5 tries I gave up. Each attempt I received the message “no endorsement found.” Not sure what I can do. The check was endorsed using a stamp as follows: “FOR HBT MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY. Heartland Bank and Trust. Account #xxxxxx.
The entire endorsement was all in caps. If your system can’t find an endorsement from that you may as well take the functionality out of the app.
Now I have a check to deposit at the branch (wasting your teller’s time on something I should be able to do at home) that is endorsed for mobile deposit only. Hope I can deposit it.

Zelle does not work
Heartland just responds to all the comments about Zelle not working with a link to instructions that tell you to select options that just AREN’T THERE. That’s why people are saying it’s not working! Re-reading the instructions about nonexistent options does not help, and when am I supposed to call between 8 and 5 when that’s when I’m at work all day? The mobile deposit, as others have stated, has been horribly glitchy as well. It’s 2025 and I need to be able to use an app to bank. I am seriously considering switching banks because of these continued issues.

Mobile deposit doesn’t work anymore
This app used to be great. Still allows you to check your balances and transactions but mobile deposit was the only thing I used it for so now it’s useless to me.
No More Zelle
I scoured the app for any information about signing up for Zelle and I can’t find anything.
Where is Zelle?
Since Zelle is becoming accessible exclusively through bank apps, I was relieved to see that HBT was added to the list.
Unfortunately, Zelle is nowhere to be found in the HBT app. On its website, HBT has steps to find Zelle by going to the transfers tab. I have scoured the app and Zelle is nowhere to be found. My app is updated and everything.
Lost a star for it being impossible and not intuitive to find, and another one for it being missing altogether.

App and whole backend need help
The could use a much needed refresh to the UI. The login process and pw reset process are a security nightmare. I’m at a point where I am going to close my account and go where the standards for a financial institution are current.
Disappointing
Update 5/13/24- The recent update is glitchy and inconsistent. When I can get into it, it frequently won’t let me past the overview/snapshot page. I use Face ID and even after it confirms it is me, I cannot get in to my individual accounts to check the activity. Sometimes it does, but more often it doesn’t work. The live chat couldn’t see an issue and suggested I reboot. I literally had rebooted the moment before I went into the app.
Update 1/31/22 App no longer works on Apple devices upgraded to iOS 15.3. HBT hasn’t updated this app in over 2 years. That’s pretty wretched when you consider most people use electronic banking to do just about everything-check balances, pay bills, transfer money, etc. I’m not sure how HBT plans to support their community without this. Very disappointing. Original post: Great if you only want to check balances. Since the most recent update the app crashes and closes if you attempt any transactions. So frustrating!! Not worth using until it is fixed. Other bank's apps do so much more without any hassles.

Wish List
I would love to have real time debit card usage notifications sent to my phone every time my debit card is being used. It is a way of knowing if your card has been captured and someone is attempting to use it. I get real time notifications when I use my Apple Pay, it would be great to have it with my physical card.

Terrible App
The app is terrible lately constantly getting an error message while trying to login and now it’s completely down and I cannot accès it!
Worst App
This app constantly logged me out when I shouldn’t have to be logged out. I use all kinds of other bank and financial apps that do not log me out as consistently as this does I’m told it for Security, but why do other apps never have this issue. No landscape mode just portrait mode. Really nice when you have an iPad that you’re trying to use it on !!

Online activity
When a check is cashed I should be able to see the check number in the memo note for reconciling my check book purposes it would make things a lot easier instead of trying to load an additional screen to see the transaction details. I’ve used many banks in the past and I like this one because of the low fees and interest checking however I don’t like the online/mobile banking setup

I love this feature because my bank is not near me and I can do anything at a distance. It is also very easy.
