I’m so whelmed
Listen man, this app does exactly what I need it to do. I even like the fact that when you read in article the color of the hyperlink darkens so you know you read that one. Yeah it has a lot of ads but you can tell that’s from the webpages there articles are on. I using sit in my computer chair and read metal article on my computer. This is the same basic experience but in a user friendly package. 10/10 no notes no complaints.
Also, unless he was gonna some how bypass allllll these metal websites agreements with all the ad company’s that advertise on their website, there’s just no logical way this app could exist without ads.

This is by far the best app for up to date metal news. I used social media to keep up to date, and now only use this app. Highly recommended. Now I know when my favourite bands are in town super easy
Ads have become a major problem
I don’t particularly like ads on a webpage or app, but they are a part of life, so I accept them. However, the ads on this app have recently become obnoxious, unavoidable, and … predatory? They pop up in the middle of your screen from multiple directions while you are trying to read an article. You can minimize them or swipe them away, but they come right back and black out the article you are trying to read. Over and over. It makes reading an article practically impossible and definitely highly annoying. I used to love this app and the wide range or articles that it provided. However, it has now devolved into an unpleasant mess. I’m sure that the owners of this app/website were successful at monetizing the content, but it has strayed far from what it was. Embed the ads in the page or have them just pop up at the top or bottom, that’s fine. But what they have now is unusable. I’ve been a consumer of Heavy Headlines for years but this is the end.

App use to be great but they ruined it big time. You can’t even read a article anymore. As you are trying to read, a vid add takes over the screen multiple times. If you close the add it just pops up again a couple of seconds later.

Hi. Thanks for being a fan of Heavy Headlines. There are no full screen ads in the app itself. Those full screen ads are from the articles on the websites that host the articles. There's nothing I can do about those. If they bother you (which I absolutely understand why they would) I would recommend contacting the site that the article is from or turning off that site in the "Available Feeds" section of the app. I would appreciate it if you could change or alter this review now that I've responded with this info because as you can see, in the 10 years that Heavy Headlines has been around we have a well-deserved 4.8 out of 5 star rating with only 6 one star reviews (out of 954 total) in that entire time.

Stuck on Favorites
It got stuck when I was adding bands to My Favorites! I can’t get out of it and now I can’t do anything and it looks like I’ll have to delete it!

This app is definitely convenient with all the things you want to keep up to date with. New releases of music, and Rock / Metal related news articles. A lot of people are missing out, definitely overlooked considering how efficient this app this.
Ripping again
Look, this app and concept rules, no questions asked. Several years ago I was pondering what it would be like to have “that one app” I couldn’t live without. And a few days later this shows up in a search for some metal magazine...I forget which. I love being able to read different write ups from a different perspective on the same story from all the different sites. This app has been one of, if not THE single reason I stay with iPhone because I can’t bear the thought of looking for my metal news and reviews by myself one by one. Small issue with crashing last week but nothing a reinstall didn’t fix. So horns up for Don for putting this together and keeping it running!

Not enough fav bands

Freezes a lot.
I love this app and use it all the time, but man does it freeze a lot, no matter which apple device I use, new and old phones and iPads doesn’t seem to matter. Really none of the updates seems to fix it. Sometimes I think it has more to do with the embedded commercials than anything else, but really it hangs up with no apparent cause. I’ll keep using because there isn’t much else out there like it. But it is frustrating.
