Fantastic Software

I have been using Helicon software for years. No complaints, the software works as advertised. In fact it is way better than the OEM attempts from the camera makers. This soft is worth twice the price. You actually own it rather than rent it. Keep up the great work.

Pretty good

It’s UI appears a bit dated and for first time users there isn’t a lot of helpful on screen information. However, it does everything it says it will do so can’t complain.

Great app For Focus stacking remotely

I get the app throw the subscription to helicon focus premium since its 10 usd / year extra on the remote and focus app for desktop , after testing this app on my iPhone and iPad i can safely say that it changed the way i took focus stacking pictures, i used to use capture one for it, i tested it for free and I can’t go back to capture one for focus stacking pictures. I would love if they update the interface, it’s not bad but could be better, it works with wide range of camera and my r5 is fully supported. Helicon please continue updating the app PLEASE it a great one. Ps the WiFi setting didn’t bother me since i work exclusively with the iPhone charging cable so again it’s great.

watch out!!

I tried this with my old Canon 7D and it bricked the camera! Now it won't turn on with an "Error 70", and Magic Lantern logs a crash report about an invalid value that could only have been set when I tried connecting the camera to the app. Be very careful before you plug in!!

You won’t be disappointed

All you need to do to get a great stack is follow the camera setup instructions!

Remote Photography

I use the Helicon Remote on a Nikon D850 to photograph Hummingbirds wirelessly and it works perfectly.
You can set your camera to silent mode and not disturb the birds, the burst feature works well. I have not used the stacking feature as yet.

Great App… Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Great tool for focus stacking! Works well …. when working. Has difficulty staying connected, or even connecting, to Wi-Fi on my iOS devices. Fortunately it now can be teathered to the iOS devices, but would be nice to have the Wi-Fi working properly.

Wi-Fi Connect Too Difficult

Linking my Canon R5 by Wi-Fi to Helicon Remote on my iPhone proved impossibly difficult. When this process is as simple as connecting, let’s say, Bluetooth headphones, it’ll be time to reconsider purchasing.

Helicon remote

Paid for a lifetime license. The evaluation software dose’nt give the code for activation

Works perfectly

Works as advertised.

Great for focus stacking

This is a great software for focus stacking. Works perfectly with my Canon R5. You set the closest focus point, the farthest and the software automatically(you can specify manually if desired) the number of shots and move the focal point automatically. And you see you have live preview on your iOS device, which is great, especially on iPad because it’s much easier to see than on the back of camera.

Keep up the good work!

Does not support Sony with iPhone

So iOS app only supports WiFi, and Helicon Sony support does not include WiFi support. So bit of a bust for me.

No longer works

Updated the app and is now just a blank screen. Running iOS 15.2. May as well delete. Worthless.

Total garbage app

I bought this remote/focus stacker app a few years ago to use on my iPhone and a Nikon D7100. It has linked up to WiFi once or twice. So I haven’t used it since 2017.

Now in 2021 I thought I would try again with my Nikon D500 and iPhone 8 running the latest iOS. And again, no connection at all.

And to add insult to injury. Tried to contact the company from their web page. And guess what? Yep! That won’t work either. What a waste of $50.

Working well with a Nikon D7500

Initially, Thus was a bit of a fiddle getting the app to recognise the camera over wifi. It did not auto detect the camera. Finally I added the camera manually, with its IP address and got it working. Connecting to the camera each time is very slow -at least 1 minute. But once it connects, it stays connected fine. I believe all these issues are with Nikon’s wifi chip/software, not the app.
once connected, using the app is very easy, focus shifting works well, live view on the iPhone screen is great. The app would crash if I set “Transfer photos to phone”, but works great if I have it at “leave photos on camera”.

Does not work MOST OF THE TIME

I’ve had the app “work” before, yes, and it’s great when it does. But note that you should absolutely never expect it to work, this way it’s a crazy surprise when it actually does, like you won the lottery while being struck by lightning AND enduring a shark attack in shallow water. Not the best odds, but you better get out of the water I guess, because IF that lightning strikes, look out (because when this stupid app does work it’s amazing)

Useless app

Completely unable to connect this app to my Canon T7i. I went through the connect process, the camera goes into live view, but the Helicon app says the camera isn’t connected and then drops the connection.

The Helicon website offers no insight, except to say that the app supports T7i.

I will remember this when I buy my stacking software

iOS 14 issue with Helicon Remote?

App worked as expected prior to latest iOS update. I use 2 mobile devices (one at a time depending upon project). One device accepts the registration but cannot connect to the camera. The second device says my registration is expired. Both worked fine prior to the iOS update.
