Positive early impressions
My only issue is the randomisations go a bit extreme. The jump in complexity from medium to high is a bit much. Would love a more gradual approach or something in between these

Crash Crash Crash
Nonstop crashes with this app. I am using it in AUM on an A16 iPAD with just 2 tracks of sequenced midi, each on a different port. AUM is running at ~30% CPU and it’s just crash after crash after crash. Absolutely unusable in a live setting. So disappointing. I will be purchasing Atom 2.
Fantastic App
It’s amazing to see the developer continuing to maintain and advance Helium 4 years on. 4Pockets apps basically require you to watch the tutorial vids, as the interfaces are often overstuffed with useful things. But once you figure out Helium, it’s incredibly powerful. (And I find it sad to see a 1-star review because the app is missing a niche feature… Helium provides tremendous value for its minuscule price.)

No way to transpose composition to different root key
Very disappointed that I see no way to shift a composition easily to another key… There should be a simple way to transpose all the notes together if a composer needs to

Great midi sequencer. The only issues I have with it so far is sometimes notes get stuck, and I really wish the press/hold to audition midi sequences had a latch option since it hurts to keep holding to preview so many midi files.

Helium is gonna surpass infinity!(maybe not)
Update-
Randomising using a scale such as mono arp, poly arp, random etc. Selecting the “random” function in the randomizing process from the menu causes the app to crash consistently. It also crashes the daw using the app.
Extremely irritating bug.
Bug Report Update- Hey Paul, there’s a consistent bug that causes crashes the project every time, while using randomisation functions, if you move over to “random” button(after mono arp, poly arp), the daw just vanishes away from the screen, then restart is the option.
Amazing work on the recent updates but didn’t wanted helium to having this irritating and fatal bug.
Do check on this.

Pretty solid with lots of very unique features but..
Desperately needs a "Scissor tool" to be able to shorten midi events but would make 2 events out of the one, or 3 out of the same one if shortened again. Thanks

I find myself using midi so much now, and this well constructed app has brought a lot of possibilities together in a sensible easy to use way. I will be spending a lot of time with this and getting better results. Thank you!

Wenn ich Helium in AUM nutze, kann ich keine Midi Outs sehen oder routen. Laut Beschreibung soll Helium 16 Midi Ports haben, mit denen sich externe Synths triggern lassen. Funktioniert bei mir nicht.

Just what I needed!
I was looking for a simple enough yet deep enough MIDI sequencer to use with Loopy Pro. This one is just right for my needs… and with plenty of extra functionality under the hood if needed. I watched the two recent masterclass tutorials on YouTube from the author. They were super clear and helpful. Bravo!

Midi import
I haven't used this feature in a while. It used to work smoothly, but now when I import midi files with more than one instrument (from Logic Pro X or Reaper) all the tracks are mixed together on track one. Is it because I upgraded my iPad?
Great app and devs
This is a great complement to Atom sequencer whose pattern sets are similar to the remote loops in Helium but which are cumbersome to make act like Atom’s patterns. I use Helium to sequence Atom into full songs with Helium’s loops as cue points for live performance.
More fluidity please.
When grabbing and dragging around notes on the piano roll, the note kind of lags behind. It feels like im dragging the note by a string instead of the note selected moving right along with my finger. A great example of fluidity where there’s no lag moving notes around is beat maker 3. Sure you have way more piano roll options in this but it can feel a bit clunky when I can’t quickly / fluidly grab a note and reposition it without that laggy automation. Not bashing the app I just see this as an opportunity for growth. So far so good though thanks for the recent update.

Essential for previewing midi loops
Been using Helium for a year now, It has become a staple in my AUM setup - using the midi browser to trigger loops from my large collection of midi basslines, melodies and drums loops. Helium makes it easy to preview loops with minimal setup.
A powerful and multifaceted MIDI sequencer
I’ve been using this app for about 5 years and it is better than ever. I use it frequently in my projects these days. If you need help understanding and using the app, good news - the built in help has been totally reworked and expanded and it’s great. Plus there’s a load of new features and fixes that have been added.
The developer is very engaged and actively supports the app. There are some great tutorials out there, both old and new which can get you started or help you get the most out of the app.
I consider this app a great value for the price. It’s got more features than some similar apps at double the price or more, but to me it’s worth it even for the most basic functions.
