About

This app offers a novel approach to instrument tuning by visualizing sound as an interference pattern. It avoids pitch detection, instead creating an optical illusion of motion that indicates sharpness or flatness, appearing stable when in tune. This method is highly resistant to background noise and harmonics, providing clear tuning information even in noisy environments.

good stuff and cool looking.

accurate and easy. 🎸🀘🏼

Immersive Tuning Experience, except…

We were cautious to give this a try and it took a while maybe a month to really fully understand how evolved and fresh tuning with your eyes and your ears at the same time in a visual pattern instead of using a meter and trying to drill it down to zero, we are slowly using this all the time and have become so enamored with the process that we rarely use other tuners - 4 stars (not 5) because the app does NOT handle landscape mode in our I-pad (only vertical)

One of the best tuner apps I have used

I have tried many tuner apps over the years. I always come back to the Helix tuner because it seems the easiest and most accurate. Visually stunning and works perfect.

Extremely Accurate

Helix Tuner consistently provides me a highly precise result due to the visualization. It seems to offer a special kind of accuracy when reaching the final calibration moments of tuning a note. For this reason it's become my primary tuner over some other more traditional tuner designs.

FAQ

How does Helix Tuner work?

Instead of detecting your instrument's pitch, Helix Tuner combines your sound with a desired tuning pitch. This creates a visual interference pattern on the screen. The motion within this pattern indicates if your note is sharp or flat, and it appears stable when you are perfectly in tune.

What makes this tuner different from others?

This app's primary difference is its lack of pitch detection. It relies on a unique visualization system that is highly resistant to background noise and harmonics, which often confuse traditional tuners. This results in a more stable and reliable tuning experience.

Is this app free to use?

Yes, the application is available for free. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned, suggesting a completely free user experience.

Can I use this tuner in a noisy environment?

Absolutely. The app's visualization system is designed to be resistant to background noise and other musicians playing. It is particularly useful in noisy environments because the visualization naturally responds more clearly to sounds near the selected tuning pitch.

What instruments can I tune with Helix Tuner?

While the description doesn't explicitly list instruments, the mention of 'higher string harmonics' and tuning notes suggests it is primarily designed for stringed instruments like guitars, basses, and violins. Its resistance to noise makes it suitable for ensemble practice.
