About
Every hike you finish deserves a page of its own. HikeList is a manual hiking journal and trail log: you type in the walk — name, date, distance, ascent, how hard it felt, and what you want to remember — and it becomes a private logbook that grows with every trip. No GPS, no maps, no tracking. Just your hikes, in your words.
Trackers record where your phone went. A journal records what the day was like. HikeList is built for the five minutes after you get back to the car: log the numbers you care about, tick tomorrow's gear list, and watch a year of trails add up into personal records you can actually point to.
WHAT YOU GET
• A hike entry takes under a minute: name, date, distance, ascent, a 1–5 effort rating from "very easy" to "very hard", and a note
• Your whole hiking history on one timeline — every entry editable later, so a mistyped ascent never haunts your stats
• Personal records and yearly totals that answer "how far did I actually hike this year?" at a glance
• Effort charts that show whether your season is trending harder or easier
• A gear checklist seeded with the Ten Essentials — add your own items, tick them off, reset every box before the next trip
• One optional weekly reminder so the Saturday hike actually gets logged, plus a CSV export of every entry whenever you want your data elsewhere
PERFECT FOR
• Weekend hikers who want a record of every trail without strapping a GPS to it
• Peak-baggers and list-keepers who care about ascent numbers and personal bests
• Backpackers who repack the same kit every trip and want the checklist already made
• Anyone whose hiking memories currently live scattered across a notes app
WHY NOT JUST USE A TRACKER APP?
GPS trackers need signal, drain your battery, and file your hike away as a squiggly line among thousands. HikeList has no GPS at all — every number is one you typed, every note is one you wrote, and the whole journal works in airplane mode on a summit. It keeps hikes the way you remember them, not the way a satellite saw them.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your journal lives in the app's local database on your iPhone. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Distances are stored in exact metric and shown in kilometres or miles — your choice.
FULL ACCESS
HikeList requires a Full Access purchase: a weekly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime unlock. Full Access includes unlimited hike entries, the complete history timeline, personal records and yearly totals, effort charts, the gear checklist, CSV export, and the optional weekly reminder. Prices are shown in the app before you buy; subscriptions renew until cancelled in your App Store settings.
Log your last hike from memory tonight — the date, the distance, the one moment worth keeping — and your journal has begun.
