About
Every mark for every rafter, in the order you lay out the board.
Hipline solves regular roofs — gable commons, hips and valleys with equal pitches, and their jacks — and draws each member as a mark sheet: numbered marks from the ridge end on the measuring line, with the distance from the last mark and the running total. Tap any number to see the math behind it.
ONE SCREEN FOR THE SAW
The cut list shows common, hip or valley line lengths and tails, plumb and cheek angles with framing-square settings, height above plate, heel and hip drop. Jacks are grouped by identical length with counts and left/right cheeks. Share it as an image.
NO GUESSING HOW A NUMBER IS MEASURED
Every input shows where it is measured: span outside of plate to outside of plate, level overhang, ridge and rafter thickness, seat cut. Lengths are entered on a feet-inch-sixteenths keypad and shown to the nearest 1/16".
CHECK IT YOURSELF
Every value carries its own working, and common and hip lengths per foot are checked against the rafter-table rows on a standard framing square, 4/12 to 18/12.
WHAT IT IS NOT
Hipline is geometry only. It does not size members, check spans or loads, or say anything about building codes. Shed roofs, unequal-pitch hips and valleys, gambrels, dormers and trusses get a plain "not solved", never a guess. Cut a pattern rafter and check it before cutting the rest.
