Makes road trips much more interesting

I drive a lot in Texas and most of those drives used to be background noise. Podcast on, miles ticking by, brain off. Now I get a little ping that there’s a marker coming up, the app tells me how far and which direction, and then it just reads the inscription out loud while my podcast pauses. By the time I’m past the marker, I know what happened on that patch of dirt 150 years ago. I did not realize how much history I was driving past until this thing started talking to me about it.
The radius setting is the part I fiddled with the most during testing.

It also worked in Japan, which I genuinely did not expect. Because it pulls from HMDB, anywhere HMDB has marker data, the app does its thing. I had it running on a trip over there and started getting alerts for sites I would have walked right past. Made the whole trip better.

Other stuff I ended up loving. The audio ducking is seamless, podcast pauses, marker reads, podcast comes back. Queue mode handled a small town with like six markers in a row without breaking a sweat. Offline still works, which matters because West Texas and the Hill Country eat cell signal alive and the app didn’t care. Topic filters keep things focused so I’m not getting every single roadside plaque if I only want Civil War or industry stuff. And tapping a marker opens the full HMDB page with photos, which is nice for when I actually pull over.

It’s free, it sends you to HMDB so they get the credit and the ad revenue they deserve, and the dev actually listened to tester feedback. Stuff I flagged in beta got fixed. That doesn’t always happen.

Great app, great idea. It's like the developer and I have been talking about this for decades!
