About

Hitokoma is a photo slideshow app that lets you choose who appears — by recognizing the people in your photos. "Just the kids" or "just the whole family" — turn a single moment with someone you love into a slideshow you can enjoy again and again. Prop your phone on a charging stand, or play it in the car — Hitokoma keeps your memories playing with almost no hands-on effort. ■ Key Features ◆ Filter by the people in your photos Hitokoma automatically recognizes and sorts the people in your photos. Choose "just the kids" or "the whole family" and your slideshow reflects it. Recognition isn't perfect, so you can name people yourself and manually correct mismatches. ◆ Filter by person, album, date, place, and favorites Combine person, album, date range, place (by prefecture/region), and favorites-only to decide exactly what you want to watch today. Even before your first scan, "Shuffle All Photos" lets you start right away. ◆ Ken Burns zoom, gently centered on faces Hitokoma recognizes where faces are in each photo and slowly zooms and pans around that point (the Ken Burns effect). Several transitions, including cross-fade and slide, switch automatically so playback never feels repetitive. ◆ Subtle overlays for date, place, and names Show the month and year taken, the place name, and the names of people in the photo, layered tastefully over each image (choose which to show in Settings). Your current location's name and a small map can be toggled on or off too. ◆ Just set it down, and it plays Hitokoma works with the iOS Shortcuts app to help you set up automatic playback when charging starts or when you connect to CarPlay. Your screen won't sleep during playback, and the on-screen controls only appear when you tap. ◆ Adjust the pace, favorite, or hide photos Set how many seconds each photo stays on screen, to your taste. Tap the heart to mark a favorite while playing, or choose "don't show this again" to hide a photo — both are easy to undo later from a list. ■ Who it's for • Anyone who wants to filter by the people they love — kids, family — to relive memories • Anyone who wants a phone on a charging stand to double as a photo frame • Anyone who finds the Photos app's built-in slideshow a little plain • Anyone who wants photos playing as a backdrop to music on a drive ■ Good to know • Hitokoma is free to use. It shows ads, and a one-time in-app purchase removes them. • Face data, names, and photos are all processed on your device only — nothing is ever sent anywhere. • Your current location's name and map are shown on-device only; we never collect or store them. • Face recognition isn't perfect. You can correct any mismatches from the People screen. • The first launch requires scanning your whole photo library, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to over ten. You can start watching slideshows while the scan runs.

What's New in Hitokoma

1.0.1

July 22, 2026

We refined the Play screen layout and button placement to make it easier to use. We also improved the default slideshow timing and playlist labels. When face reassignment is unavailable during scanning, the app now clearly explains why and when it will become available. This update also fixes an issue where the getting started guide could appear twice.
