Not compatible with intel macs.

Not compatible with intel macs. Used to work great but they are no longer supporting intel macs so you can’t backup your inventory to your portable device. I’m not ready to buy a new computer just to use this app.

Used to work great.

No longer syncs wiht Dropbox. I purchased these group of Home Inventory apps to keep track of belongings but they no longer work properly. I guess they want you to buy a subscription to the new app. Users that paid for this app should be grandfathered in IMO.

5 Stars for me

Another great companion app to the main Mac app, “Home Inventory.” Love this mobile backup; it gives me a needed backup, plus allows me to have my inventory detail right on my phone.

Great job developer

Update 2021.04.17: Still using this app and still really liking it. One thing to consider, would be to allow sorting, ascending/descending on the mobile version. Thanks.

Great app

Does exactly what it’s suppose to. It backs up and makes available to view all of your entered data.
It’s a free add-on app that’s a backup for the desktop program.

Great app but....

Great app that works well with the desktop application. The but is... unlike the desktop application, the iOS app don’t allow for scrolling between items. When viewing an item, you must close item or go back then open a different item. Also, unlike the desktop app, the iOS app don’t not support url hyperlinks- even though you’re able to create the Field in the desktop application.

Stale

This application is unmaintained and unsatisfactory.

It does not support modern screen resolutions.

The All Items view is only alphabetical. Can the sorting of any view be changed?

The Policy view has so many details missing from the Mac App.

Search? The Mac app’s search is weak, but this app wholly lacks it.

Remember your place when switching away and back? Nope you’re back at square one.

Long, long overdue

I have been using this Home Inventory for many years. I use it to inventory my collections. It is the best! When I have had issues or questions I go to the developers and they offer beyond belief assistance. If you realize it can’t do everything, but it can do everything you need to record your assets you will be quite satisfied.

Not Worth Purchasing

App fails to utilize iCloud drive so inventory database can be used across all devices (iOS and Macbook).

It does not get any better than this!

Functionality is great
Integration with latest Mac-features
Very intuitive and easy to use
Friendly and helpful software support

Great App!

I’ve had both the mobile and Mac versions of this app for several years. When I retired in 2013, I decided my first project would be to document all our stuff, room by room. I was worried that our homeowner’s insurance was under-estimating our valuable possessions. I took pictures of everything (furniture, appliances, electronics, etc) with my iPhone, and uploaded them, along with any receipts, creating a database so detailed that our insurance company was very impressed. Edits are also a breeze. It’s comforting to know that we have this all documented and on file with our agent. I recently had a question about the app, and emailed customer service. I received an answer the same day. It’s hard to find such prompt service anymore. Kudos!

No Option for iCloud Back-UP

Home inventory STILL has no option for iCloud Back-Up. Forces you to use Drop Box if you want a cloud back-up. SAD, I'd give it 5 stars if it did. I guess the developers are TOO lazy to foloow Apple requirements for iCloud Back-Up?

Great but simple and easy to use.

I don’t know what these other reviewers are doing but I can do everything they say they can’t do???

weird non-standard sync function

Painful set up of Home Inventory Mobil Backup (strange name btw) Home Inventory file has to saved exactly to the main Dropbox folder (no sub folders allowed or using DB app extension like so many apps use for backups e.g Paprika ) and yet the MAC application nor the iOS app warn you of this. The app is good only to view the file that is created on MAC application and no editing (there’s another app for that) whilst many other des use iCloud or even develop there own server solutions (panic, Iggsoft) Binary formations leaves it too the user to set up dropbox no choices allowed. this app detracts from the MAC version in every possible way

Great update

I’ve been using HomeInventory for several years now, but the new Remote Entry has made the addition of photos an easy matter. I particularly like being able to add new entries from the App itself. One note: I originally had issues with my iPhone losing the network connection when making entries, but after finding my iPad had no problems using my network, I “restored” my iPhone thru iTunes, hoping the problem was with my phone. Evidently that was it, as that fixed the issue and it's working flawlessly!

Warning: Desktop Only

This should be an inventory app that allows you to enter photos and information from a smart phone not just the desktop only. Photos are taken with a smart phone these days not a desktop, and there are dozens of inventory apps that run directly from a smart phone, so after paying $19 for your app, I was very disappointed to find out I can't even use it. Without the functionality of being able to enter inventory from a smart phone or an iPad, this app is completely useless. I'm really shocked that the developer doesn't understand this fundamental need today to be able to use mobile devices, especially for an inventory when you're moving around.

Hassle

Why don't you allow us to put the inventory files in the cloud (via iCloud, dropbox...etc) then we could add files on our phone, add them on our computer, it wouldn't matter where, they would always sync.

Please support iCloud Drive

Please?

Really

I love how we have to pay for the desktop application that comes with the mobile backup. And they decide to put ads in the app. The app works well. But there shouldn't be ads when you have to pay for it.

Excellent execution of a home inventory companion app

Love the redesign and updated 'home inventory backup' app. I've been backing up my inventory files via Dropbox for some time now, so the coolest new feature for me is the ability for this app to read my backups stored in Dropbox. That way, I can always search or look up my current 'inventory' on-the-go!

Awesome

Wish you could add items through the app, and access reports, and iCloud support, but otherwise, a perfect app.
