Would work great if

Every time I try and delete a saved tab doesn’t work. Had to delete the app every time I wanted to remove a pinned website.
The program also crashes if I try and open several new tabs in one go. I might as well do without the app in its current state unfortunately :(
Wish it could also pin my existing favourites list, or be able to import them all in, that would be very useful
Hope one day this gets fixed, but till then, 1 star unfortunately

Exactly what I wanted

With no real way to see what time it is whilst browsing I’ve tried a few things and this actually WORKS. It’s got loads of customisation options and once I figured out how to get it started in Safari (Safari > Preferences) it works great. Thank you.

Doesn’t work. At all. Tried all troubleshooting.

Using latest macOS Sonoma. The new start page flat out doesn’t appear. Apple won’t let me refund and I’m not a happy customer now.

Hi mohrbius, If you install this for the first time on your Mac computer, open your Safari web browser, and navigate in the Apple menubar to Safari -> Settings. And open the Extensions tab. Check if you have enabled the "Home Tab for Safari" checkbox. Then, when you open a new tab, it should show this new tab. Absolutely Worthless!

First, figuring out how it works is complex. Second and most important their tech support BOT is Anti Intelligence - useless!

I finally figured out how it works. I got it started but after a restart of Safari my picture was blank. OK I added my photo again. Closed Safari and the same thing. I go to the tech support and nothing!??! I couldn't find an emai so I'm stuck. I turned it off in settings.

Feedback to Apple: Don't allow anyone to sell an app or extension without a tech support email!

Hi 843c, You rated 1 star. Do you still need any help? When you install for the first time my Home Tab for Safari, you must open the iOS Settings app -> navigate to Safari and tap on "Extensions". Here you see "Home Tab for Safari" in the list and can choose to replace it as your default new tab page. This information is also visible when you open my "Home Tab" app, the first page is guide page. Apple designed this method to enable a Safari extension on mobile. There is no other easy and fast solution for enabling Safari extensions. Useless Due To Major Flaw

You cannot copy and paste URLs into this app when you set up a new tab. This means that if tehe URL you want is 27 characters long you have to type it in and hope you don't fat finger anything. This renders the app useless for me. Why such an obvious defect?

Custom video doesn't work

Custom videos don't work beyond the first tab when updating the settings. If you close and reopen it shows as blank.

The simple answer to the "Safari favorites issue." Hey Apple, don't be so lame and just buy "Home Tab for Safari" and make it permanent! Best app ever for Safari. Just try it, its less price than your next Starbuck latte. 5 stars

Works great but wish there was an iCloud sync option to sync between devices because it’s a pain trying to set up multiple devices.

Hi Archaic78, Thank you for using the Home Tab for Safari extension. And for your 4-stars rating. Do you mean you want to sync the bookmarks with all your Mac and iPhone device? The browser extension use the "Chrome.storage.sync" code. That means it can sync the settings to the cloud. However, that is the code for Google Chrome web browser (same technology to build Safari extensions). And Apple do not yet have this option to sync with other devices, it only provide for the user the local storage. Great extension, responsive developer

I miss the old "Top Sites" feature in Safari that allowed me to customize a bunch of shortcuts on a new/blank tab. Home Tab allows me to do that, plus it adds the current time in big numbers so I always know what time it is.

I wrote to the developer with a couple of feature requests. he responded within hours, and a week or so later released a new version with the features I requested. I also encountered a bug, and he was responsive and helpful in troubleshooting it. Highly recommended!

This is beautiful!

Don’t listen to the other review saying the app doesn’t tell you how to set it up, it does. It has step by step instructions and even a video. And it is super easy to do so. I set it up successfully with my Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

This app is beautiful and easy to use! It delivers exactly what it promises! I do have some suggestions for, what I feel, is very important feedback.

1) We should have the option to use our own background video, just as we have the option of a background photo.

2) There should be an option to center everything on iPhone, just as it does with iPad and Mac. Without shortcuts, it just looks weird plastered to the top by itself.

Those two changes will make this perfect, in my eyes!

I bought this thinking it has nice features and would be usable, IT IS NOT! It doesn’t even tell you how to set it up!! Don’t buy it!!!!!!

In the latest app version, I did improve the steps where to find and enable the Safari extension on the app. Update 27 November 2021: Have you tried Home Tab for Safari version 1.6? I improved the first tab page of the app. Now it show you also how to enable the Safari extension. -- Sorry you have had this bad experience. And rate then 1-star review. When you open the "Home Tab" app for the first time on your home screen. It will open the welcome guide, that explain you all the features in this Safari extension. And on the last page (before you can press the blue close button) the steps on how you can enable this Safari extension (on your iOS 15 device). And when you tap on blue button "Watch Video", you see the steps in a video. Here are the steps to enable the Safari extension: 1. Leave the app 2. Open the "Settings" app on your iOS device 3. Search and tap on "Safari", tap then on "Extensions" 4. And enable here the toggle "Home Tab" Do you still experience this issue on Home Tab for Safari version 1.1?
