The music, art style, interface and writing are on point and it does not take long before you are really invested in Alex, the protagonist of the tale, as she navigates her way though the fictional app and engages with a colourful cast of characters from the world of online dating. At times it almost feels like a Black Mirror mini game!
A mix of dark humour, intended cringe and some heart felt emotional interactions, Hook Up is worthy of its accolades and I cannot wait to see what the developer creates next!

i was waiting ages for this game and was so excited. then it got delayed which is fine ig. then when it hit to finally playing it. you could only really go down one story line and it was super short. overall disappointing

my mother always told me to read the reviews on things but since i saw the game on tiktok, i decided to give it a try, which i now realize was a very big mistake. i give a lot of credit to the creator of the game, because it’s a solid IDEA, but the game, put together, isn’t working. it’s glitchy & i haven’t even been able to finish the game because of the bugs. it was worth my two dollars in american cash, and i wouldn’t try the game again. if you’re reading this, please consider the reviews on this game before buying.

Waste of money
I really hate to be cruel, especially to small businesses and stuff. But this game was a general waste of my money, ever since I saw the advertising on TikTok I was hyped and had waited a long time for this game to be released. When I had finally got the money to buy it, I was disappointed to find that I finished this entire game within 15 minutes, this includes the main story and the side stories. Conversations are very very short and you don’t even get to choose what you say or do. The only choices it gives you is the occasional three emojis which don’t tell you what they do or if they even effect your story. When your character messages people it’s straight up pressing on letter and it’s types out an entire sentence for you as an response that you don’t get to modify or change. Overall this game was a waste of my time, money and most definitely overhyped for what it was. I’m disappointed

It’s very short. But it was a good game.
So I personally did really like the game. However, I do think it would be cooler if there were more people than just that bully that you got to learn about and you could actually choose. Not to mention it is very short and I think if you added in more selections and more story so we have the option it would be much more successful and so much more interesting to play.

not enough story
game is cool tho finished it in about 20 minutes there was s glitch in the credits what was a bit off putting there was also a glitch in one of the chats so that was also kind of annoying. i know the game is about where alex matches with her old bully but i kind of wish there was more story to it like say if you wanted to hook up or not and then it didn't end automatically after and if there was another love interest or something because it's just kind of boring and dosent really take that long to finish and no matter how much you try to avoid george it's all just the same no matter what you do its just a bit lazy in my opinion its not worth the £1.79

It has potential
Overall the game is pretty interesting. The only downside being that it’s very short. It actually caught me by surprise how short it was. And the disappointment of its length deterred my from playing a second time to interact with other characters. The choices seem preset and there’s not a lot of room for creative freedom on the player’s part. The main character always ends up matching with the same people regardless of who you swiped up or down. There were no options to type in your own responses. Everything was predetermined which didn’t allow the player much freedom of choice.

it’s an okay game. i like the art and the inclusiveness. however, you get bored of it quickly and isn’t worth the money. i played for a few minutes and the game is short; which doesn’t matter. however, in those few minutes i was not entertained much at all.
Wish it was better
I should’ve trusted the other reviews but I really wanted to give this game a try. Like they said it was very short but I was willing to go past that for a fun experience.
I was really upset at the fact that all of Alex’s conversations were purely sexual based other than the suicide talk. It felt really kinda, just pointless? The most upsetting part was finding out I really couldn’t experience any other potential love interests even after blocking her bully. I REALLY loved some of those other characters and wish it was indulged in more.
I do love the style and effort put into the game, just wish there was more.
