Wish this actually worked! This is a great concept, but it just doesn’t work most of the time. I pointed this at Hostas I know, and it usually identified it wrong. One review stated it depends on light, angle etc., but I found it is just wrong. It even identified a non variegated Hosta as a variegated one!?!?
Now, what is kind of cool is it’s “catalogue” of hosta pictures. It is possible to scroll through those pictures to find ones that look like your Hosta. Now I will say that some of the pictured plants have on name on them that I think is wrong.
Please keep working on this. Lots of Hosta collectors will love it. Perhaps if in included categories of descriptions of the plants characteristics.

Identification was always incorrect. Tried on my known variety’s

Worthless for me
It gave me the same wrong option for most any hosta even when I knew it was something else. When two options were suggested for a just purchased plant with tags on both were wrong. I have a minimum of 40 varieties but don’t know them all and was hoping this app would help but it’s just frustrating. If it at least came close I would be willing to research further.

It doesn’t work
I was very excited to see this app and was hoping it would have improved since the previous reviews were posted. Sadly, it doesn’t work. It cannot even differentiate a Hosta from a different plant. It would be nice if you could add the correct info if you have it to expand the data in the file.
Needs a lot of improvement.
Great idea snd I was in hopes it would work. But, instead, it just can’t seem to make up its mind what the hosta’s names are. I will get 5/6 names per plant.
Hostas
This does not work. It will give you a suggestion as to the name of your Hosta, but changes with every tilt of the camera. And when it does settle on a type, it does not look like the actual leaf your photographing. Fan of hostas
To Bad It Doesn’t Work
The app is too dependent on light and angle and many hostess will appear slightly different in different growing conditions. It just doesn’t work. On the same plant, it can identify it as different hostas depending on where you focus (single leaf vs whole plant,) or even what part of the plant you look at. It failed on the overwhelming majority of varieties I tried and I have dozens. It failed on Striptease, Guacamole, Stained Glass, Sagae, Lakeside Paisley Print, Blue Angel, Paul’s Glory and many more. It did, however, work on Brother Stefan and Earth Angel.

Worthless
I have a few mystery hostas I was hoping to identify. This is NOT the app for that. It doesn’t correctly identify plants I know, and most of the time I get a different answer every time I try. A magic 8 ball would be just as accurate.
A dud
Really excited for hosta app, but I agree not there yet. All the hosta I looked at had choices that were incorrect. Fire island is on app but didn’t come up at all when I pointed camera at it. 😢
Great app
Works great, iPhone needs to be in light mode in settings in order to read the name at the bottom of the Hosta.
Needs work
Not enough varieties loaded. Took a pic of my hosts as instructed. It did find a similar “match” from the library but no way to click on the match to see what it’s called. Great idea, poorly executed. Needs work.
