HPE Virtual Intranet Access (VIA) is a secure VPN client that allows users to connect to their corporate network from various locations, including home, temporary sites, or while mobile. It automatically establishes a VPN connection when needed, ensuring secure access to data center resources.
Key features include seamless integration with HPE Aruba Networking Controllers, VPN user authentication using WLAN credentials, dynamic enforcement of access policies based on user roles, and support for both IPsec and SSL connections. It also supports two-factor authentication (2FA) and PIV smart card authentication.
The HPE Virtual Intranet Access client itself is free to download and use. However, it requires a VPN subscription installed on compatible HPE Aruba Networking Controllers or Gateways running specific versions of AOS (6.5+ or 8.0+).
The app is supported on iOS 12.0 and later releases. It requires a connection to HPE Aruba Networking Controllers or Gateways running AOS version 6.5 and higher, or 8.0 and higher. A VPN subscription must be installed on the Controller or Gateway.
The app provides secure access by establishing a VPN-on-demand connection to the data center from non-corporate networks. It leverages the same role-based and stateful firewall policies used for local network access, ensuring consistent security regardless of user location. It also supports robust authentication methods like 2FA and PIV smart cards.
