The main objective of the Scheme is to provide employees with a means of income replacement on retirement and also guarantee their dependents income support in the event of death while in service. The Scheme is a defined contribution (DC) pension scheme, that is, a pension scheme in which the retirement benefit paid to each member depends on the amount of total contributions and the investment returns earned on those contributions.
