Not secure
Hushmail received a subpoena in a civil case against me filed in the US. The attorney in question lied and said I had sent threatening emails, and the Canadian court granted an order to disclose information. Hushmail neither attempted to fight the subpoena or notify me. And while Hushmail can’t decrypt the body of messages, it CAN and does provide header info, geolocation, IP addresses, billing information, and subject lines. Understand too that Hushmail was NOT prohibited from notifying me. Bottom line, Hushmail does NOT protect your privacy. And again — I did not do anything illegal or unethical.

App Works Occasionally
I have had Hushmail for many years and their app is just horrible. It’s so bad it basically makes Hushmail almost completely unusable. Today after suffering through the app for several years and reloading the app several times I was about to switch to another email company, but as the last resort, I downloaded Microsoft Outlook onto my iPhone and it seems to be working with my Hushmail account. I’m actually able to send and receive emails reliably now. It probably would’ve been easier to go through a different email service, but I’ve had this email address for several years and didn’t want to give it up. With the Hushmail app in in the App Store with a rating as low as this, it’s really a poor sign of a business to put out such a garbage app in the App Store. I also tried just using the email by logging in through their website, which seems to work better but is more of a hassle. Sorry Hushmail, but you need to have an app that works more than occasionally. Honestly, because of this, I would not recommend using Hushmail.

Notifications have now stopped working. For a professional service this app is embarrassing. Please, hire new devs to fix this app—it has been chronically bugged for several years now.

Few features, doesn’t load new emails
Have had it for five years. it’s gotten worse. I can’t get any new email to load in a week despite receiving notifications that they are arriving. Trying now to delete and reinstall but this app is just unimpressive.
Fine on iPhone but not formatted for iPad
It wastes the iPad screen by behaving like an iPhone. Use the browser instead.
Email works, app needs improvement
Everything works on the computer, but I haven’t been able to reply to emails via the app in months.
so many issues
everything about this app sucks: this app is constantly glitching and half the time i can't even log in, has limited features on mobile and deletes my emails when i try to send them. however, the worst thing about this app is by far the spam filter. it will put emails from people from my organization with the same domain as me into the spam so i miss them, but when i get actual spam emails they go to my inbox. i would be ashamed of myself if i made an app this bad.

Lost it ALL!
We have used this app plus laptop w our original passwords for YEARS! After buying a new ph had problems. Now locked out completely! Hushmail is going to do reversible damage to the YEARS of notes documents and all the accounts we have set w them. Yes I wrote Hushmail yes I could for ONE DAY see the emails but could not respond. Now every hat is gone so how in world can I even begin to clean this mess up?!
I saw a lengthy response an could NOT respond for help. Then it ALL went down! No clue how to even get tot hem to “set up” a time for a call. The email is gone! We need help ASAP! Yrs and yrs of files. Everything poof! Mind blowing! There has to be a way to not lose it all. But right now I need a way for me to at least see my emails and respond!
Help is beyond desperately needed. Can’t believe yrs of same passcodes and none now suddenly just don’t work? I changed it to try to resolve for the one email. Regretting a lot right now. Help fix and I’ll change the rating. But I have to wonder why so many bad ratings. We had zero issues until this total failure past wk. crisis patients can at least ext in to out text line. But that’s nothing compared to everything we r losing w out serious help! Emailing me to now lol med hot is puzzling!

Never loads messages
It will not load new messages. I have followed the directions that customer service gave me, it works for a few days and then craps out again.
Hard to create
Hard for me to create an email address. Keeps rejecting the address I created, or thought I did. Have tried existing email address. Not sure if I created a PW or address. But it tells me original one I created is the one it remembers but then says it’s wrong???
Constantly not working currently
This app is awful! What has happened in the last month or so? It used to be a lot better.
So much potential
If this app actually functioned it would make my work so much easier. I a pay a hefty annual fee for the healthcare subscription and both this app and the browser feel like I’m emailing in 1999.
Atrociously useless
This app was working just fine until a few months ago. Do the people keeping up this app not understand that some of us work with high risk clients where we need to constantly be in communication with our clients? I specifically got Hushmail because it had an app and I can keep up with my emails on the go. This app, considering the business we are in, is embarrassing.

Buggy and doesn’t load
I find myself uninstalling and reinstalling often, just to get emails to populate. Very buggy and seems to be getting worse.
Unreliable
This app is unreliable to say the least. It’s glitchy and I cannot count on it to send emails in a timely fashion or often at all.
Longtime User Disappointed by Recent Update
I’ve been a loyal Hushmail user for over 7 years and have always been extremely satisfied with the service. Throughout this time, I’ve consistently recommended it to friends and colleagues due to its reliability and security features.
However, the recent update has completely changed my experience for the worse. The iPhone app now crashes constantly, making it virtually impossible to use. This level of instability is absolutely unacceptable for a premium, paid email service that users rely on for their daily communication needs.
I’m genuinely puzzled why the company would release such an obviously unfinished update. For a service that charges premium rates, users have every right to expect a stable, functional product. The current state of the app is simply unprofessional and falls far short of the standards I’ve come to expect from Hushmail over the years.
I sincerely hope the development team addresses these critical issues promptly. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this service to anyone, despite my years of previous satisfaction.

Needs major overhaul
The app version of this email needs a lot of work. I often get messages showing an error that cannot display the email. Sometimes when I try to reply to an email that I can’t see, it gives another error showing that it cannot open up a new email to reply.
Good App
I don’t find this app to be buggy, as others have noted. I find it reliable and easy to use. The only thing I wish they would add is the ability to attach secure forms to an email. As of now, you have to use the desktop/browser version non to accomplish this. I find that this company is always striving to make improvements and their customer service is on the ball, speaking as a paid subscriber. I use this in a HIPAA work environment and I’m glad to have it.

Not sure why you even have an app
I am somewhat baffled as to why you have this as an app. First it shows up as a tiny box on your screen like you are looking at your phone sized box on the entire iPad screen. Second hushmail allows you to make templates. While you can see templates, there is no easy way to use them for a new email. If I wanted to just read my email without any of the associated features, I would just do it in outlook. Which is what I will be doing.
