Crashing

The app keeps crashing

Timetables outdated

This worked great 3 years ago. Purchased a renewal, then learned the timetables are way off. Most be an abandoned app.

Recently became useless

I have used this app for years to preplan rail travel in Japan and to track progress during the travel by the station schedules that were part of the information provided. Please bring back the previous version. My coupon is current and I would like to continue using the app which I have recommended to many fellow travelers in the pass.

Departure Times Not Listed

This app stopped showing departure times. It’s now useless if you don’t want to guess what time your train will arrive. Unless this is fixed the app is garbage.

What happened???

This app was great up until a couple weeks ago. All of the train times now list minutes for some reason. Matching up the train times made travel for me (non Japanese speaker/reader) so much easier. Please fix this the minutes don’t help anything!

Edit: just noticed another issue. They removed what platforms you arrive and depart from. This is a useful piece of information for long trips. Please fix this!

FAQ

What does the HYPERDIA app do?

HYPERDIA is a train timetable application for Japan. It allows you to search for train routes, fares, and schedules using both voice commands and text input. The app supports English and Japanese languages for queries.

How does the voice search feature work?

You can speak your train route queries in English or Japanese, such as "Narita Airport to Shibuya station, last train." The app automatically sets the search parameters, making it convenient to find timetable information quickly, especially when dealing with Japanese station names.

Is the app free to use?

The application offers a 30-day free trial period. After the trial, you will need to purchase a coupon through in-app purchases to continue using the full features of the app. Different coupon options are available for Japanese-only or Japanese + English access, with monthly and yearly plans.

What kind of train routes can I search for?

The app supports searching for all JR lines, private lines, subways, streetcars, and airport routes across Japan. You can also filter results by specific train types like Shinkansen and rapid lines, or differentiate between JR and private railways.

Can I use this app if I don't speak Japanese?

Yes, the app has an English language voice search system and also allows for English text input. This is particularly helpful for foreigners traveling in Japan who may not be familiar with Japanese station names or prefer to see information in English.
