Still incredibly buggy

Regularly have to force quit it because the bottom half of the screen becomes unresponsive. Looses my place on exit/return, means I am missing people’s posts.
Now not loading hours and hours of posts. Sorry, I have to give up at this point. It’s just too painful to use.

Great alternative to X and alike

It’s a great alternative to X and similar apps. But here there’s no annoying adverts. Just follow your favourite hashtags or users and off you go. No tracking too :)

Yes, it is the best Mastodon app

I’m going all-in with Mastodon lately and I’ve tried a few apps. This one is by far the best experience. Smooth and intuitive. Placed it on my main Home Screen :)

Good, overall, with a major, and minor, bug

This has all of the features I want and works great, overall, with one massive bug I hate, and a minor issue I don't like.

The major bug, that's been happening for a long time now, is when writing or editing a post, if the phone (iOS) flips orientation, the app stops responding and the text is lost. I have to lock and unlock the phone, then force close (swipe up) the app.

The minor issue is that Case and CamelCase aren't preserved for all hashtags in a post, only the ones in the body of the post (usually).

Hashtags added outside the body text of a post don't preserve their case, and for CamelCase, that's a significant failure for accessibility since screen readers rely on CamelCase to properly transcribe compound hashtags.

scrolling doesn’t always work

sometimes the app becomes unresponsive to touch/scroll.

Fantastic VoiceOver accessibility

Great voiceover accessibility improvements.

Great app but beware bugs and data going to OpenAI

Current bugs (Apr 2026):
- leaving app in background and coming back doesn’t keep your place/writing, e.g. if you click away on a blog post or to check something while making a post, and come back you then can’t find the post to like it because you’ve moved or you’ve lost your composition.
- poll notifications don’t show what you voted for.
Otherwise improves substantially upon the official functionality allowing so much control of your feed. You can really dive down to a personalised display now - lists with groups of tags, customisation of the main buttons, pinning stuff easily - or not if you don’t want this - the defaults are pretty sensible too. So much, and no subscription!
One other negative is one accidental click on something with a robot icon and, with no warning or consent dialogue, and you’ve suddenly sent your data to OpenAI (the current version doesn’t have an AI ‘off’ slider, which is a big minus compared to previously). Slightly improved by recent addition of at least a text warning under ‘bot’ icon.

Great app

Better than the actual Mastodon one!

slowly improving

v2 now usable
unread toots counter still buggy
expanding hidden or condensed toots in a thread very likely to result in random scroll to somewhere…
really really needs to anchor current view

Unstable and unreliable

The first few months of using Ice Cubes was honestly really great, but after a few months the app became more and more prone to seemingly random and incredibly frequent crashing. Viewing others' profiles crashes the app. Scrolling down my list of followers crashes it. Switching between tabs crashes it. Updating settings crashes it. Even opening the app and loading my timeline crashes it. It's depressing how one of the best-designed and most useful Mastodon clients became so unusable for me. I hope this can be fixed soon.

Crashes on opening

UPDATE 2: Now it’s crashing whenever I try to scroll down in my timeline.

UPDATE: Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed the crashing issue, but reverted all my settings to the defaults. 🙁

Love the app, but as of 2026-01-24 it’s crashing as soon as it opens, making it unusable. Restarting my iPhone didn’t help.

I’m running the latest app store version on iOS 26.2 running on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

App Does not Open In Default browser.

Lots of issues with this app. Hamburger menu or (…) does nothing. Second and most concerning is that it ignores opening outside links in the default web browser app. I don’t want links opening to Safari. Not the greatest navigation either with everything buried in drop down menus. Another one for the bin.

Was fast now Slooww

Maybe the latest updates are to blame. I used to love this app.

Please STOP telling me that I’ve posted a new post. It just gets in my way.

Few Issues

I like this a lot, but the display settings reset every time I close the app.
