Trialling this app

Tha app is quite straightforward and easy to use. How good is it in protecting you? Hard to know. Not many reviews online and they usually focus on features and ease of use. It would be interesting to see if Trend Micro could get some people who have been hacked/compromised and see what happens when they input their personal info and do a scan. Maybe one of the tech security sites could also do an experiment like this. UPDATE June 30 2024 This app said my three emails were fine BUT the site Have I Been Pwned said that one of my emails was leaked in 2017. I sent a screenshot of their assessment to TM and subsequently uninstalled the app.

Language Setting Please

A language setting in the App can be very helpful. Now it just follow the system language and cannot be changed in the App. Also, it will be even better if we can have simplified Chinese for this App. The subscription covers 2 or 6 devices but it can only watch over 1 ird and 1 passport, 5 emails, which doesn’t really make sense when I subscribed for 6 devices. Being able to watch over more ID and ird will be much better.

FAQ

What does ID Security do?

ID Security monitors the internet and the dark web for any leaks of your personal information. It alerts you if sensitive data like Social Security numbers, credit card details, passwords, or social media account information is found in compromised data breaches, helping you take action to protect your identity.

What kind of personal information does it monitor?

The app scours for a wide range of sensitive personal information. This includes email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, passport information, credit card numbers, and bank account details. It also monitors social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter for data leaks.

Is there a cost to use ID Security?

The application offers a 30-day free trial for comprehensive personal data protection and monitoring. After the trial period, users will likely need to consider in-app purchases or a subscription to continue using the full features, as indicated by the 'free with in-app purchases' monetization model.

How does the app help prevent financial fraud?

If your credit card number or bank account information is detected in a data leak, the app will notify you immediately. This early warning allows you to take prompt action, such as contacting your bank or credit card company, to prevent unauthorized transactions and protect yourself from financial losses.

What is the dark web and why is it important to monitor?

The dark web is a part of the internet accessible only through special software, often used for illegal activities. It's a common place where stolen consumer data, including Social Security numbers and credit card details, is sold. Monitoring the dark web helps detect if your compromised information is being traded, which is a crucial step in preventing identity theft.
