Needs improvement

I just started and felt this app would be a big help. It might be for tracking food, but when I added the supplements, it only registers some as taken, but not all I added. I even deleted them and saved again. Same result. I tried to Favorite the supplements I use, but when I go back to the list, none are selected as Favorites. It would be more intuitive to be able to tap the supplements’ check mark under the food to record them instead of scrolling all the way to the right to find the list. I hope a patch update is in the works.

Horrible app!

Unfortunately, I have to use this app for my nutrition program and it drives me bonkers! It freezes and resets; won’t let me add items to a recipe without me trying at least 10 times because it just freezes and times out; not quick with finding items to add to my list forcing me to go back to the beginning just to add another item to my meal- not efficient and poor planning on the developers end; photo feature works half the time; not very transparent with useful information like how much of the item I record contributes to the overall carbohydrates, etc. I’ve been using for three weeks and get more frustrated with the poor user-ability.

Buyer Beware.

I signed up for this on the recommendation of my doctor. I called and ordered the initial food pack and had to buy their scale ($75) but then received no furthur instructions on how to get started or set up the scale. Over a week later and when I was about to return it all, I got a call from one of their "coaches" who got me all set up. At first it was good and she communicated with me but then when it was time to order more food things went south. There was never an order form with costs so I gave her a rundown of stuff that I thought I would like. It ended up costing over $800. She also forgot to submit my order so I didn't receive my main order and she had to submit it again so all I had were the dessert items so had to wait to get fully started again. She then ghosted me after receiving my expensive food so now I'm out a program and stuck with loads of terrible food. Do not recommend this program at all.

Doesn’t work

So many issues with this app. Can’t change anything. App is confusing and always has an error message so I can’t enter or change anything. Useless.

Garbage

Right out of the gate my very first day and I need to log breakfast. The Southwest Egg scramble not available to choose. And I added my the multi vitamin and the potassium pills and it shows a green check by the potassium only. Still no green check mark by the multi. Not a good start.

Needs improvement

It’s nice to have an app instead of having to carry my journal everywhere but this app needs help. I am actually in phase 3 (maintenance) but the app doesn’t sync up with my account at my location and it is literally stuck in phase 1 without me being able to change it. I have just started using this app so I hope by recording my weight for 4 straight weeks at goal it might advance itself to phase 2 as it’s getting annoying that it keeps yelling at me for eating food I am not “allowed” ☹️ This app has a great look but needs to be more intuitive… hunting for everything even with the search feature & favorites button is like searching for a needle in a haystack - who has this much time?? It would be much more helpful to have radial buttons available for supplements instead of lumping them into the lists. Adding a bar code scanner to the app would be enormously helpful. Add the option to clear the videos once watched, they don’t go away. Needs work.

Copy & Ppaste

I agree with the other 2 comments. App needs the capability to copy & paste foods from 1 meal to another. The favorites tab is good, but copy & past items like Oils or Salt would be helpful without moving to another tab.

App has really improved over time

Would be nice if the Apple health integrations were improved like setting weight. Since this has a Bluetooth scale integrated. Calories would be nice too.

Ineffective

Support not available- search option for food not working. Continues to tell me can't sinc because of some error with serial input- deleted app- not worth the trouble

Worthless Weight Loss App

To date, after attempting every single day to enter (journal) my food choices, not once has this app done anything other than display an error message. I can search for and see the food choices, but once selected, an error code pops up.

Not sure why this company even has an app?

IP app non response

App is non responsive! Will not take any of my progress. It’s say this every time I opened it. X

serialized, input data was nil or zero length.

.

Not what I expected.

Poor function

I updated my app recently, and now I no longer have full functionality of the app. I can’t trend anything other than my weight. I keep getting an error code that says my clinic needs to input my phase of treatment. I have talked to my clinic, and they do have me in my correct phase, but the app is still not working properly. Very frustrating!

Missing required food

Missing items like tilapia and spinach so far. I’m into my first week and those items are on the list of food that I can have, but are not in the app. Please fix.

After a year, still not as good as old version

What happened to the wheel? Macros? Calorie Count? My coach can see it but I can’t? Why?????

Makes little sense that you took those functions out of the app.

What am I learning from this tool now?

Great Protocol. App needs polish.

If you’ve got insulin resistance, or have been disappointed by other diets, Ideal Protein is for you. It works! There isn’t a lot of tracking, but there are a few things like meals, supplements, water intake, etc. to keep track of and that’s where the app comes in. To be clear, it’s great to have an IP app and it beats the pants off of manually tracking everything. But, the IP app is at a “version 1.0” level—it does what it is supposed to do, it is user-friendly, and it is reliable. But it could use a lot of polish. The main problem is that it takes multiple steps to log things. Mandatory items should be a check box list on each day. When there’s a choice, like what IP meal or veggie you ate, then show the list. When the user wants to add an optional/arbitrary item to the list, have a plus box that calls up the list. That would be much better than the current design, which requires you to search the list for the same things (especially supplements) every single day. The Apple Health integration should be improved also, especially the water logging. Lots of apps track water. For example, I use HidrateSpark, which integrates with my Bluetooth water bottle and tracks water intake in Apple Health for me. IP’s app should just pick up on water from Apple Health and not force us to tap an “add 2 oz” button 50+ times a day, or at least let us enter the water manually.

In sum, the app is OK, does the job, but could be better. I do disagree with the reviewers saying that Ideal Protein is expensive or rolling in money. The program replaces all but one of your meals every day (except veggies) and is designed to be cost neutral, and I find it is a great value for money. Most importantly, it really works!

Please add calorie count!!

Please- I beg you- take some of the millions you’re making over there at Ideal Protein and hire a team of experts to make this app truly competitive. We, your customers, are spending a pretty penny for your product and that should reflect in the quality of the application. It’s a decent interface but, for example, I can’t even see a calorie count, or my macros! Or what I’ve eaten in a day without tediously scrolling through each meal. Those should be basic, fundamental functions of a diet app. Are you actually wanting to help people? Then put sone money here. It’s a digital world, IP: Wake up!!

Old app back

This app is worthless. The old app was so much more useful. I actually quit the program because of this change.

Needs work…

Things I’d like to see: a list of everything I’ve journaled today without having to click through each meal. Ability to rearrange items on daily journal (i.e. move water to the top). Change meals for my schedule- if I switch lunch and dinner the app doesn’t recognize that I switched meat and IP food. Video badge stays on 1 unread all the time and I watch the weekly videos. Better way to sort favorites, maybe in categories like the IP foods are, or let me make my own categories. Glad there’s an app, it’s still better than paper, but it needs work. For what this program costs I expected a more intuitive app.
