About

You drag back, the world slows down, and you let go. After that there is nothing to do but watch the curve you just threw and find out whether you judged it right. There is a guide, and it points dead straight, so it tells you almost nothing. No power meter, no numbers to dial in. The camera holds perfectly still the whole way, which means the throw is yours to read and yours alone to get right. LANDING IT IS ONE THING. LANDING IT CLEAN IS ANOTHER. Anything that touches the fire lights it, so you are never stuck. But there is a version of every throw that goes in dead centre, straight out of the air, and both you and the game know the difference. Clip the edge and it still counts. Bounce it off a hill, let it roll the last stretch and catch, and it counts too, and it feels far better than it should. FIVE IN A ROW AND THE GAME CHANGES Light five without missing and the fire takes over. Everything counts double, the trail behind the fireball burns white, and the edges of the screen warm up. It holds for about ten seconds and every hit keeps it alive. Every long run is built in one of these. It also makes the fireball hot enough to set the country alight. Trees catch as you pass them, bushes catch, and they keep burning at your back long after the ten seconds are gone. The smoke behind you is a record of how well the run went. THE ROAD IS THE SAME FOR EVERYONE Forest, farmland, autumn, desert, coast, rainforest, swamp, cemetery, crystal fields, ice, burned forest, and at the far end, the volcano. The order never changes, so distance is never luck. If you got further than someone else, you threw better than they did. Almost nobody sees the volcano. NOTHING IS CHASING YOU No timer, no lives ticking down, no reason to hurry a throw. Take a minute over one if you want to. Play for two minutes waiting for a coffee or for an hour on a train. The land is built fresh every run, so the country you cross is never quite the same twice. WHERE YOU STAND An all time leaderboard, a new one every week so there is always a board you can still place on, and twelve achievements. Two of them are waiting a long way down the road. FREE, AND FAIR Ignite is free and paid for by ads. No shop, no currency, no energy meter, nothing at all to buy. Once per run you can watch a short video for one more try at the run you just lost, and everybody gets exactly the same one. Landscape, iPhone and iPad. Plays offline. Respects Reduce Motion, and haptics and screen shake can both be turned off.
