Excellent source of good information
I have been using the Illinois Wildflowers app for most of a year to help me maintain my yard, which is planted with many IL plants native to the tallgrass prairie, and many plants opportunistically planted by birds and wildlife bringing seeds into the yard and leaving them to germinate. Some are great for the garden and the environment, some are invasive in this region and can quickly cause problems if not identified. This app along with one of the photo-based plant ID apps have been helping me in my quest to keep my yard as natural as I can. The photo taking app lets me quickly get a name for something, which I can then use to search in the IL wildflowers app to find out if it’s something I want to encourage or discourage in my garden. There are tons of additional links, great information available on each plant’s listing, and I’ve learned so much just looking things up and reading the info. I highly recommend this app, particularly for anyone looking to support the local flora and fauna.
