Great support for MSX, but....

The best support I have found for MSX. The interface is clean and user friendly. My one issue is the touchscreen d-pad. Something is off to where you cannot make multiple fast inputs. It registers one click immediately but not the next. I found it unplayable with the touchscreen but fared better with a controller.

I’ll definitely take a closer look at it and try to fix or improve it in a future update. Few suggestions

I've been using this emulator for a while now and it does everything that I need to do. I can finally start Metal Gear 2 with the custom BIOS update now! However, there have been a few things that have stood out to me that hinder my experience.

When using the function keys, even when I feel the haptic feedback from it (and the click animation plays) it doesn't register sometimes. While playing Metal Gear, it took me about 5-6 clicks to get into the utility menu to switch cards. It gets annoying fast when I'm being pursued by the enemy and I need to heal. If that could be fixed, that would be great...

Another thing I noticed is that the consistency of the buttons seem a bit off... When I tap the up button, it works nearly immediately, while when I tap it again, it takes about a half-second to process it again. (Also, the haptic feedback doesn't repeat on that...)

Other than those few things, this app is great! This is what pushed me to finish some games I had started.

DSK format support is missing

It is a great emulator, but lacks the support of DSK type, I’m looking forward to see it supporting this format in the coming updates.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Since version 1.7, iMSX2 supports DSK files. Just remember you’ll need to add a real BIOS to get them running correctly.

Con mucho campo para mejorar

El funcionamiento con teclados bluethoot es bastante deficiente (por no decir que no se pueden usar). Seria ideal poder ocultar los controles de juego en la interfaz, ya que si usas un teclado externo pueden no ser necesarios y molestan en la pantalla. También sería genial poder entrar en el modo BASIC para poder hacer algún que otro programita simple y poder guardar/recuperar, sobre todo si quieres hacer algo más didáctico con los nanos.
Creo que lo que hacen emuladores como CPCESP o Spectaculator es el camino a seguir.

Metal gear 2 solid snake

Due to the nature of this app, I am unable to load this game because this is a stripped down version of the emulator that defaults cbios, which are incompatible with mg2ss, very unfortunate because that’s the only reason I bought this app. If There’s a way to fix this I’d be open to it but Ive wasted my money otherwise 😖

Thank you so much for your comment and feedback. I’m working hard on getting this game to run properly. It looks like it uses save data or some part of memory I haven’t fully accounted for yet, which prevents it from initializing correctly. I really appreciate your support and I’m committed to improving the app, I hope to release a new version soon that fixes this issue. My goal is also to add the option to use your own BIOS in the future, so compatibility can be greatly improved.

Can’t open ROM files

Keeps getting an error about “Init ROM in slot” and can’t play my games. I hope for some support.

Thank you for your message. I’m currently working on resolving this issue. It seems to be related to the game using save files, and there’s an error when reading the memory for those saves. need more works on this app.

1. I hope you can make good UI functions if you just use msx core.

2. After setting the game cartridge and playing, I don't know how to return to basic basic mode, and I don't know why it has to be so cumbersome.

3. There is no way to turn off the overlay touch UI. If you let the game controller use it, of course, you should provide the function to erase the overlay UI.

4. There is no function to adjust the screen aspect.

I hope you continue to improve and pay for the app price.

Genial, pero…

Es genial poder volver a jugar aquellos fantásticos videojuegos de los msx en el móvil. La app está muy bien y es muy intuitiva pero:
1) Hay roms que no hay forma de que funcionen y que, sin embargo, en el Mac sí que funcionan con otro emulador (por ej, el juego Beamrider)
2) Tengo hemiparesia debido a un ictus que tuve ha años y que me impide usar la mano derecha. Sería de muchísimo agradecer que el emulador tuviese un modo “auto-fire” o que los “disparos” estuviesen integrados en los cursores. Somos mucha gente en condiciones similares los que nos encontramos con la barrera de que si no tienes las dos manos para jugar… lo tienes muy difícil.

It is not 2+

It's a good start, but the machine type can't be selected, no FM sound in any ROMs I tested (only PSG), no support to .dsk files, no support for mass storage, no extensions, no support for simultaneous ROMs in different slots. I believe this emulator will evolve with time, it has a good UI and is promising.

Needs plugged-in controller support

I have a gamesir controller for my iPhone, similar to the backbone controller. It’s not Bluetooth, it plugs in via lightning port. If this app had horizontal full screen support and the ability to control the app with my plugged-in controller, it would be perfect.

Audio bugs have been fixed, now definitely my favorite Mac emulator

I’ve reveiwd a few times here before. I’m happy too say that the audio issues I’ve been expieriencing have since been fixed with the last update. Can’t wait too see what comes next.

I'm actively working to resolve the audio issue, and it seems to be related to what you've mentioned. Regarding writing in BASIC, for an upcoming version, I plan to add compatibility with Bluetooth keyboards. However, it's important to note that MSX-BASIC is not currently available for legal reasons. To address this, users will have the option to add a real BIOS in a future update if they have the necessary permissions. Thanks again for your valuable feedback.

En desarrollo

Queda mucho por hacer y pulir. Al principio es frustrante porque apenas consigues hacer funcionar homebrew. Mejor empezar por los Konami de toda la vida. Importantísimo mejorar la autodetección del tipo de cartucho y poder elegir el MSX emulado. Otra cosa pendiente es poder usar el ipad en horizontal y a pantalla completa.

Habrá que tener paciencia.

Thank you for your feedback and comments. We're actively working to resolve the audio issue, and it seems that when background audio is playing or if the silent mode is enabled on iOS, sound does not play even if background audio is turned off. Sometimes, toggling the silent mode on and off helps.

Great emulator for a semi obscure system, though with one issue

This is a continuation of my last review. Emulator still works great however I now have sound working. At times anyway. It seems when background audio is being played or if iOS has silent mode on it won’t play sound, even if you turn off background audio. Turning on and off silent mode sometimes helps and sometimes not so I’m sure it has something too do with that. Other then that it’s been great for playing old Mac games and testing out old basic programs. Though it would be cool too have a way too write basic in the app like old systems of the day. Keep up the good work dev. Hope too see this evolve and maybe even more emulators someday
