Disappointing Loss of Support for Older Indian Motorcycles

The Ride Command app has become significantly less useful for owners of older Indian motorcycles. I have a 2018 Chieftain Classic, and features that previously worked without a Ride Command+ subscription are now unavailable or grayed out.

Vehicle information such as battery status, fuel level, oil information, and maintenance details is no longer accessible through the app. Owners of older Ride Command-equipped motorcycles also appear to have lost convenient functionality for transferring or downloading planned routes and maps from the app to the motorcycle.

My motorcycle is still properly associated with my Ride Command account, and my tracked rides and planned routes remain visible on the Ride Command website. This suggests the problem is not simply an account or synchronization issue. Instead, the current app appears to have reduced or removed support for functionality that was previously available to older motorcycles.

Indian should not make an app less functional for existing owners merely because newer motorcycles offer cellular connectivity and subscription-based services. Customers paid a premium for motorcycles equipped with Ride Command, and reasonable support for those systems should continue.

At this point, the app provides very little practical value for my motorcycle. Removing or restricting previously available features without a clear explanation is poor customer support and reflects badly on the Indian Motorcycle brand. Indian should restore the older-bike functionality or clearly explain why it was removed and provide owners with an alternative.

Error Code Look-Up

They took the error code look-up away, from the Garage section… That was useful in that new DTC have been added that were not available in the service manual. The App is useless now for anyone with a Non-Ride Command bike …

Down for me as of 2/7/2026

App has been seamless great since 08/23/25, updated to the new one in 01/2026, and now as of 02/07/2026 mine has been down. Signed out, won’t let me log back in. Let us find out them HD boys did a ransomware attack.

App update for Indian Motorcycle

This update 10.0.01 is horribly annoying. Previous version worked great;now update no longer has bike health etc visible/working. How do I revert back?!?!

New v10 now doesn’t show any current bike info

Just updated to v10 and now none of the current bike info shows at all. Was there just before updating.
I don’t really see anything different.

Good concept. GREAT bike. app should be rebuilt so that Bike Health & Bike Locator actually work

I’ve had this app for about a year and a half on a 2024 Indian Challenger. The bike is absolutely fantastic. I sure wish this worked better.

I have installed and uninstalled multiple times. I have even put in trouble tickets with Indian . No luck it will work for a while and then it stops updating. I’ve never been able to get the bike location to work or any of the other advertised features. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times.

I like Indian. GREAT bike. I wish they would get their stuff together on this app.

Doesn’t work

Doesn’t work, conflicting programming in 7 in screen and 4 in screen devices, not intuitive, they don’t explain how a feature works on one bike but not another, subscription fee is the same across all platforms but they rip you off and say device incompatible after you pay the price. This is a drastic failure and explains why Polaris sold off Indian

Refuses to update

Have uninstalled repeatedly and reinstalled and having it update with the bike is hit or miss sometimes does good and then may go a month before it finally does connect and update is totally unreliable have sent feedback hoping this would be fixed very disappointed to say nothing had changed bikes software is up to date and app then says its not eligible its a 2024 Roadmaster with everything on it but yet last month it was eligible come on both Polaris and Indian are better than this

No Apple car play

Why no Apple car play with the ride app? Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc etc how you supposed to use this app with no car play? Sure seems like it would be simple.

Needs a Update

This app is getting worse and worse I stopped for lunch, so I paused the route recording and when we were ready to go again I opened my phone only to find that the app had stopped the route and closed. The ride had to be restated and now shows 2 rides for the day instead of 1 226 mile ride
This is not the first time, this app has not been updated on 5 months and my device is on the newest update.

Indian app

Difficult to use and difficult to sync to your GPS

Still won’t work

I was promised two years in a row that it would work. Paid for it again was told they would call me or email me, it never happened. Still can’t connect the bike I want a refund. To much aggravation.

The App

Love the app, people I send it to always send positive comments.🍻👍

Freezing

Every time i use the app on the rides section or the community section for more than five minutes i have to restart the app because it freezes up

Indian Ride Command

This is the least user friendly mapping system that I have ever used and I think in 2024 for the price of these machines the consumers deserve better

Still not working

2 years in and they still can’t get everything to work. Not worth the subscription.

Useful but annoying

1. The app doesn’t show fuel gauge, KMs, battery etc. status after a recent upgrade. This is particularly disappointing since in Australia you don’t provide hardware for ride command to auto sync and while the market is supportive and pays with blood to maintain their Indian motorbikes, you are removing the little use I had for the app.
2. Most useful links are for the US site, this is very poor customer experience. More so, their Australia website doesn’t have much of details. I couldn’t even find the Service Fee/Charges for each recommended service.
3. They can do better with the user interface, but I suppose they are relying on Polaris’ platform with Indian branding, hope Polaris can focus on that.
4. Sync is a bit clunky, I had home address show up twice on the app every-time I add it (whether i add via app or the ride command on the bike).

The bike is awesome, it is worthwhile to give a well connected rider experience. If you are integrating tech, do (design) it with the rider in mind.

Shame

There is so much potential to make the ownership experience great. But alas, Polaris/Indian choose to let this mediocre (at best) app and the RC systems on the bikes linger with the same issues for years. Indian is resigned to yearly updates with minimal improvements that fixed one thing but break a few others. The last Motorcycle update was a year ago. I’m waiting on pins & needles to see if they push another one out soon.
