User reviews

Used to love this App

Not sure what has changed, but it doesn’t show the Labels ‘Speech’ & ‘animal walking’ etc that is picked up on recording… not sure which Graph I need to use but I’ve tried all of them ..
I can’t see where the recordings are saved in the App to listen to them?
I need to find out what frequencies are around me & for it to pick up ‘Speech’ through the Frequencies please!

To the developer

What happened fo the listen tool that registered what it was hearing ie “footsteps” “speech” “inside small room”?

???????

Absolutely no idea what I’m looking at or what it’s recording! Bars, graphs etc but of what?

Sensor features deleted?

I’ve had this app for years and for some reason, the sensors have all been removed except for barometer. It’s a neat app but the accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors are gone, and despite having an account, “Data File Settings” and “Custom Settings” are gone too. Quite unusual to remove useful features and customizations, especially when it prevents you from using the report feature that’s promised after registering an account. Why were these options removed?

Plays back 2 seconds of audio

Difficult to use, only plays back 2 seconds of unusable audio. Bad UI/ UX

FAQ

What is Infrasound Recorder?

Infrasound Recorder is a mobile application designed to capture and stream very low-frequency sound waves, also known as infrasound. It allows users to record phenomena such as volcanic eruptions, sonic booms, meteors, earthquakes, and surf. The app also facilitates background recording for continuous monitoring and anonymously uploads recorded sound files to the RedVox cloud server for global exploration.

What are the key features of Infrasound Recorder?

Key features include the ability to capture sub-aural low-frequency sound, record and stream data over WiFi or cellular networks, and perform background recording for continuous monitoring. It also offers the option to save device location for accurate mapping and source localization of infrasound events. Recorded files are anonymously sent to the RedVox cloud server and can also be saved locally on the device.

How does the app handle privacy?

The app requires microphone access to function. The free version limits audio capture to 80 and 800 Hz, with significant low-pass filtering to prevent the recording of human speech. Higher sample rates, which could potentially capture conversational audio, are available at the Premium level and are set to private by default. Device IDs are anonymized and not traceable to personal information.

What are the different levels of service and their costs?

The application operates on a freemium model. The free level supports audio capture at 80 and 800 Hz with specific low-pass filtering. Higher sample rates, including those that could capture conversational audio, are available at a Premium level. The description implies that these premium features come at a cost, likely through in-app purchases or a subscription, though specific pricing details are not provided.

What kind of sound events can this app record?

This app is specifically designed to record infrasound, which are sounds with frequencies below the range of human hearing. This includes natural phenomena like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and surf, as well as man-made events such as sonic booms and large explosions. It can also be used for ambient noise monitoring.
