2nd Time’s a Charm

I couldn’t find my previous review where I gave it 1 star. So making a new review. Initially, after setting the parameters the indicator never moved from “Too Tight” no matter how much I loosened or tightened the tension. After a reply left on YouTube I moved the placement of the phone between the blade and the support beam. Don’t know why that should make a difference but it did. Suddenly I was “Too Loose” so I tightened. Did the test again and the indicator moved closer to the center. Gave it another tightening and suddenly I was “Too Tight”. Turned it back just a bit and I was right on. Works like a dream!

I purchased my bandsaw in the hopes that I could re-saw thicker pieces and maybe doing a bookmatch piece. It never worked no matter how I tightened the blade or adjusted the cut to account for drift. What I usually did was waste the excess away in the thickness planer. Re-sawing never worked for me until now. Amazingly enough I was finally able to re-saw some Zebrawood into 2 - 3’ x ¾” pieces with a minimum of surface work and absolutely no drift.

Inkling Bandsaw Tensioning

It is a good idea, but it seems the creator of this app lost interest in it. Bandsaw sizes are missing and he don’t respond to messages about it.

Works well!

I installed a 3/4” blade, used the app and cut dead straight first try. Was also using the Alex Snodgrass method for blade install.

Spot on - Laguna 1412

I used this today to test the tension of my 3/4” carbide Laguna Resaw King bandsaw blade installed on a Laguna 1412. For wheel center-to-center measurement I used 35” (actual is 35.116”). I then made my workshop quiet for the test and performed two successful tests with no difference in the results. Comparing the tension scale of the app, it was scary accurate to the tension scale built into the Laguna bandsaw. That left me impressed with both the app and the bandsaw. I did have my blade set slightly higher than the range given for the 3/4” blade from previous concern that the built-in scale was a bit off. At least with a 3/4” carbide blade, I now know I can trust the scale.
Next time I swap out for my 1/2” blade, I’ll test and compare results again.

Great app! Thanks for making this.

Excellent tension meter

Simple and accurate for far less than the standard tension meters. There is no reason to rely on pushing the blade with your finger for a guess at the tension. Get this and improve your bandsaw’s performance. And support is amazing.

Updated version much better

I downloaded the first version and there was a problem with The app showing always too tight especially when using the other parameter for the blade type. The latest version seems to have cured that completely. I just finished checking my half inch blade, the same one I used the first time I checked the app, and now it reads exactly what I would expect it to. Way to go, Andy.

Always too tight

This app doesn’t work. Several users reported too tight reading regardless of how tight the blade is.
