For the first time ever, out of necessity ( ! ), I am learning a language strictly from Duolingo.

Love this almost perfect app. I’m a language teacher and it’s a delight to use for quick checks. Other apps are available for the more grammatical problems.
HOWEVER - every time I open it, it asks me if I want to upgrade, and for a brief second I want to chuck it through the window😤😤😤😤😤😤😤👍👍👍 Asking me once a week would be fine. Hence only 4 stars.

Very useful but a few niggles
Works quickly and easily when the word is obvious. Defaults to English when typing a word that is obviously Italian, but so far I have found no way to tell it to try Italian - is there a way? Tried the upgrade but it doesn’t want to stay there - whenever I start the app, it asks if I want to upgrade, which I have now done several times! Internet translation when it doesn’t know the word is pretty flaky. Sentence translation is word-for-word, so useless for idioms. Has now started to lock up frequently, and this doesn’t clear even if you unload the app and restart it. Very frustrating. I’ve reverted to Reverso.

Great for pronunciation
Mike has great diction and it is really helpful to have common mispronunciations pointed it. The example sentences are also really good

Made the mistake of paying twenty bucks for Garzanti - get this instead!! Better dictionary, easier to use, free, great!

Still drops out too often so that I have keep opening the app until it works. Otherwise it’s great. Would give 5 stars if fixed, perhaps another update?

Very good translator
I use this app almost daily and it works perfectly except that it freezes randomly and I have to close it and reopen it multiple times. Other than that, this app is useful and you should get it. I would like that to be fixed though.
Very neat
Effective little app, much better than the others I have tried so far. Searching in either language is quicker than having to select one or the other, but occasionally I have wanted to force one language and can't do it. A few words are missing, possibly because the book I am reading contains dialect or errors, but the dictionary plus Internet search works very well. I'm still a novice at using this app, so may well need to update my views later.

Italian pronunciation
I use this app for Italian pronunciation, for which it is great. Otherwise it's a very basic dictionary, so a bigger, professional one is still needed.

I use this app all the time when I am studying Italian. I appreciate the ability to insert a word in either Italian or English and the audio is invaluable.
A perfect App/ Un applicazione perfetta
This app is pretty good and accurate with it's terminology. I use it to translate words I can't think from Spanish to Italian. I'm studying the language for a project and I use it to talk to my friend from Italy. Overall it's a great app, it can translate full sentences as well. I'd recommend this to others.
