Colloquialisms are marvelous things, but hard to pin down.
Without knowing the language derogatory idioms specific to your perceived origins, and not knowing critical language swear words, a traveler’s life could be in danger, and they may never know it until it is too late.
These are two of my criteria used to evaluate a language translation program for excellence.
iTranslate Pro is one of the better translation applications available to the user in the Apple App Store. I would rate it Very Good for the common user for a relatively good translation. It does not include my two primary criteria.
However, it is not perfect. Using one of eleven languages in which I have conversed, Hausa, the second largest African language used primarily in West Africa as my example, iTranslate is using what I loosely term a transient “Metropolitan” Hausa as their base versus the pure Hausa from the heart of Hausaland centered in Sokoto.
