Good enough
The app is good looking and work mostly fine. But is common to open it and the feeed doesn’t update and the pull feature also doesn’t work. It looks like it doesn’t trigger the update. So often I need to use other and free apps to have access to the data.
Terrific, reliable app
Ivory is the definitive example of a great iOS app: beautifully thought out, intuitive, fast, and a pleasure to use. Ivory makes Mastodon fun.
Very beautiful app missing key (for me) features
Gorgeous interface, robust settings. I just cannot live without threaded conversation view; I cannot follow conversations properly without it.
The other feature I missed from a different app I’ve used was a dedicated tab for private messages (a kind of inbox). I like being able to view those separately from other mentions. These two things are very important to me so I ended up going back to my old app, despite the fact it’s a bit glitchy with the timeline fetch right now.

Feed refreshes while scrolling.
The Achilles heel of this app is how the feed will refresh while in the middle of scrolling. More often than not I’ll be scrolling, reading a post or about to click on a post and the feed will
auto refresh and jump to the beginning rendering the post I was interested in lost to the ether.
It’s by far the most frustrating aspect of this app and it impacts the user experience in a very negative way.
If this were fixed it would be a much better app.

Beautifully designed
Beautifully designed Mastodon client, however some additional functionality such as ability to edit account preferences would be very welcome
Great example of why subscriptions aren’t always better for consumers
What do they expect, for us to just keep paying for the subscription while not getting any substantial updates. They’ve made so much money off of this app now for not putting much work into it. If I had this level of output at my job, I would be fired. My boss wouldn’t just be like oh yeah that’s fine. Take another year to rest. I would be out and looking for a new job.

2+ years and still happy
Been using this app since it came out and it's been great. Love the interface and options. Added a Pixelfed account and can flip back and forth. No tracking. No fussing. Just useful.
Fantastic, but
I love the app, it is fantastic and well worth the money. However, I would like to regain the option to boost with a single press.
It’s Alright
Decent Mastodon app, but recently updated it to remove a user setting around boosting posts and seems to be refusing to respect user preference around it, instead citing a desire to remain consistent with the Mastodon app. That’s really disappointing because it’s breaking the usability for power users, and I would rather just use the Mastodon app itself if Ivory isn’t going to provide a significant benefit over traditional experience.

The essential Mastodon client
If you use Mastodon, just buy it. It's the best. Don't waste your time with anything else.

The app is good and polished and a great option for most folks.
However, I’m a musician, and I follow other musicians. Musicians sometimes attach audio clips to posts, which is a standard Mastodon feature. Ivory, in the years it’s been available, has never prioritized this feature.
I switched apps in 2025, and there are other good options out there that support all of Mastodon’s features. So, sadly, this one just isn’t for me because the devs haven’t made customers like me a priority.

Great app that keeps getting better

Everything from Tapbots is lovely and Ivory is no exception. It’s one of my most used apps and I am happy to be a subscriber.
Works Fine. Missing Features. Maybe abandoned
It was way better than the default Mastodon app early on. It’s missing more useful features like muting threads, or even just not showing entire threads split out on the timeline. No updates for 7 months after regular patches.
Simply The Best
this is the best social media client ever devised on any platform ever and they don’t say that lately. Great care has been taken in every corner of this product.

C’est une très bonne app mais malheureusement trop peu suivie par les concepteurs. Ivory est ainsi en retrait par rapport à d’autres comme Ice Cubes (gratuite) ou Mona 7 (bien mieux intégrée dans l’environnement iOS actuel).
Malgré cela, Ivory a tout pour être l’application pour Mastodon la plus agréable du catalogue iOS ou MacOs.

Pas mal du tout
Mais hélas cette app est très peu suivie pas ses concepteurs, ce qui la met un peu retrait par rapport à d’autres (Ice Cubes qui est gratuit ou Mona 7 par exemple).

No updates
This app hasn’t been updated for over six months. That really isn’t acceptable for a paid app that is far from perfect. I suggest switching to the free Mastodon app which receives regular and useful updates.

Alors qu’Ivory était un choix évident il y a quelques années, l’appli ne progresse pas beaucoup. Il y a des bugs non résolus et Ivory ne supporte toujours pas le quote reply. Sans compter que seul Mastodon est supporté, avec le temps on aurait pu avoir le support d’autres plateformes du Fediverse.

Nothing beats these two thing. Of course it’s worth the fee.
