Really, what a marvellous little diversion. The Jacquie Lawson Sussex Village Advent Calendar is simply dripping in yuletide charm — all the joy of a traditional English Christmas without the bother of hosting actual guests.
One opens a new window each day to reveal a flawlessly illustrated vignette: perhaps a brass band tuning up by the village green, or a charming hedgehog in a tasteful scarf. It’s all rather enchanting — like stepping directly into a Richard Curtis film, minus the emotional mess and with significantly more tasteful decor.
The games and activities are delightfully diverting — one spent a shocking amount of time decorating a virtual tree (far better than the Zimmermans’ horror in last year’s newsletter, incidentally). And the music! Carols so perfectly rendered, one suspects the Royal College of Music may have had a hand.
Frankly, if one isn’t partaking in Jacquie’s annual digital winter wonderland, one isn’t really celebrating Christmas. It’s the Fortnum & Mason hamper of advent calendars — entirely unnecessary, wildly opulent, and absolutely essential.

My favourite of all Jacquie Lawson’s advent. calendars. I reset it and did it again this year along with the Paris one. Much prefer this one.

Just what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been looking for an advent calendar app for years. Most are commercial, venal, and full of ads. This is spectacular, and totally worth the price! I’ve enjoyed this app every day, and I’m sorry the month is over now. Can’t wait until next year. Thank you from across the pond!

Very well put together despite a few things
I’m really enjoying this advent calendar however I have noticed that some features don’t work which ruins the fun of the calendar. Such as the Christmas tree in the apartments you can’t decorate it apart from putting lights on it, the rest don’t show up. Then on day 8 decorating the Christmas cracker apart from the base the rest of decorations don’t show up when you click on them. If features like thoughs could get fixed this advent calendar would be 10/10

Lovely but the price was a bit of a shock
I downloaded this advent calendar and I was enjoying it so I decided to pay the $9.99 advertised in the app to get the full experience. However I was very surprised and frustrated to see that I was actually charge $21. If the price has changed since the app first came out you really ought to update the app.

Nice Artwork, Glitchy App, Lousy “Help” 🙄 Line
Nice artwork, enjoyable activities, and fun games. This is all great but still the app does not operate properly. Two minutes after launching the app, the villagers you see walking back and forth past the cottages and over the bridge disappear for good (but on computer they don’t). I informed the help line about this early in November and after receiving a number of contradictory responses I was told that the techs were working on a fix for this. Now it is a month later and the problem persists. Very poor responsiveness! This app is more expensive than it once was and is only relevant for a month or so. So it should function properly - or be fixed in a timely manner if it works erratically or a customer reports a bug. Customers pay for it to operate properly. * What ever happened to the cats and dogs that were part of the cozy “home” scene? They were a lovely part of the app in years gone by! * Decorating Christmas trees is fun but there is a glitch. You can click on an ornament to try and put it where you want it but it does not always appear. If it does, and then you try to drag it to a new location, it tends to disappear (this has not been a problem with past Advent calendars).

Still Go Back in June
The app is beautiful. I’m such a Christmas lover, that even in June it’s nice to visit the Advent calendar to hear the gorgeous music and watch the snowfall. The activities are fun, the characters (especially the pups and kitties) are enjoyable to watch, and the decorations are wonderful. Looking forward to 2024 Christmas season.

I so enjoyed this advent calendar ! I had downloaded a couple in the prior years and wanted to revisit and get the 2023! Loved so much about this one ! Thanks so much for all the details and making it so much fun and so beautiful! The snowball thrown at you was so fun! Thanks for all the hard work you put into making these. I did miss the doggie and kittens in main room ! I am still looking for one elf ! It still gives me an excuse to go back and enjoy !

Sound does not adhere to device silence
The sound effects and music ignore the device mute switch completely.

These are absolutely stunning and joyful!! Chocolate advent calendars are fine, but you can get chocolate any time, these advent calendars bring real festive fun to the run-up to Christmas. Love them.

This was really awesome. Someone bought it for me as a gift and I didn’t think much of it but I loved opening it up everyday. Really made it feel like the Christmas season. Loved the activities! It was really worth the money! Thank you!

I never got any further that day 3. Day 4 onwards kept asking me to purchase, I already had. So frustrating I tried everything but it never happened. Disappointing.

This was a great app for my grandsons and I to play before Christmas. The search for the elves and videos were fun. The game section was good to find a new package to open each day.

Upped their game this year, which is a very good thing
I have been buying, and giving, the Jacque Lawson advent calendar for some years now. However, I’ve been disappointed the past few years as there seemed to be fewer and fewer activities and more and more videos. I actually thought more than once about skipping this year. I’m glad I didn’t!! The 2022 calendar is awesome and I loved all of the opportunities to decorate and do other Christmas activities. I was also glad to see that some of my decorating efforts turned up on the main scene as in the first years of the calendar. Seems JL put all the best of every year into their calendar and so I look forward to 2023!

Just perfect!
I always buy the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar as well as using the site for eCards. The 2021 London Advent Calendar was wonderful, but 2022’s Sussex edition was even better. I loved searching for the elves, and the naughty snowball thrower! There are so many activities and the production is inspired and beautiful. I’m already looking forward to next year's Calendar!
