What's New in Japan Alerts

2.1

July 30, 2026

The same watchful app, now steadier when it matters most. When a major earthquake strikes, everyone opens the app in the same moment. We reworked how alerts and the alert list are delivered so they stay fast and dependable during exactly that surge, when you most need to see what is happening and where. We also made the nearby-shelter map load more quickly and more reliably, so the places that can keep you safe are ready the instant you open it. The rest of this version is quieter work: improvements to stability and clarity across the app. The app you rely on, ready for the moments that matter most. Thank you for using Japan Alerts. Stay safe.

User reviews

Unreliable

Willing to change my rating on this review but overall this app is very buggy and the only times it works is when there’s no alert considering the amount of users that log into it when an alert is published.

Additionally, we have tried to make a group multiple times and the members of the group are unable to access the group after it have been established. I’ve tried creating another group many times and it simply won’t work.

Please update and fix these bugs

Deleting app

Glitchy app - stalls out a lot. Worse is that it raises the alarm when nothing is happening. Deleting app.

Response from developer

We're sorry Japan Alerts let you down, and we take the false alarms especially seriously on a safety app. Both problems have been fixed. The alerts firing when nothing was happening came from a server-side issue that could re-trigger earthquakes which had already passed. We found and fixed it, and that fix is already live for everyone, with no update needed. The stalling and glitches were fixed in version 2.0.3, now available. If you're willing to give it another try, we'd love the chance to earn back your trust. Either way, thank you for the honest feedback. Please stay safe. Japan Alerts team

話にならない

実際に地震が来て通知は来たが開こうとしても一切開けない。何度も消して開いてを繰り返してやっと開けても何も表示されない。

Response from developer

Great app for non-Japanese speakers living or traveling in Japan

This app allows to get alerts issued by official agencies in various languages in timely manner. There is also a function that allows to create a group so that you can check if all the members of the group are fine in case of the emergency.
If your family member is going to Japan, or living in Japan, it will be a very useful tool.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review. Version 2.0 is a way better. Hope you will like it.

Constant stress!!!

This app kept alarming every 2 minutes telling me to evacuate because there was a tsunami warning + earthquake, however I was waaaay too far away. I had to turn off my phone as I didn’t wanted to delete the app, in the end I did as everywhere I went in public it was screaming and stressing everyone out… make it location based… you can’t tell people to evacuate when we didn’t even feel the quake.

Response from developer

Sorry for that ! We made the settings easier to set in the version 2.0
