We're sorry Japan Alerts let you down, and we take the false alarms especially seriously on a safety app. Both problems have been fixed. The alerts firing when nothing was happening came from a server-side issue that could re-trigger earthquakes which had already passed. We found and fixed it, and that fix is already live for everyone, with no update needed. The stalling and glitches were fixed in version 2.0.3, now available. Great app for non-Japanese speakers living or traveling in Japan
If your family member is going to Japan, or living in Japan, it will be a very useful tool.
