App won’t work after update

I followed the direction in the app and it updated the firmware on the system with no issues. The app offers a lot of controls including different reverb and delay setting as well as ducking. Very impressed with the ease of use.
App Won’t Connect
The first time I attempted to connect the app it connected to the speaker and said there was a firmware update. I allowed it to do the firmware update and after about 15 minutes it said it was at 100%. Then the app crashed. The speaker still shows the old firmware but no matter what I do I can’t connect to it from the app any more. I’ve spent two days back and forth in emails with JBL support and they can’t fix it.

Gute Grundfunktionen, aber True Wireless Audio funktioniert überhaupt nicht.
Hätte ich von JBL nicht erwartet. Ausprobiert mit iPhone und Tablet.
Firmware failure. App just crashes.
I want to love this speaker system, but right from the get-go the experience has been very frustrating due to this horrible app. It does not seem able to play Bluetooth music even when I connect, so I looked to the connect Pro app, which told me the firmware needed updating before it could do anything. Great. I begin the firmware update process, wait 15 minutes or so for it to download and install… and the app crashes. No indication of anything on the actual speaker, Same Old firmware version, so I try again; same result. Meanwhile despite having two USB ports on the speaker I am told the firmware cannot be updated in any way other than using the app. I will be plugging in some equipment to try using it for its intended purpose, but the initial experience has been terrible.
