What's New in Jolt

2.0.0

August 27, 2026

Jolt 2.0 is here. And focusing has never felt like this. —— FOCUS FLIGHTS - New You don't start a timer anymore. You book a flight. Pick your destination - a city reachable in the time you want to focus. Choose your seat: First Class locks you in with no exit. Business gives you a challenge to unlock early exit. Economy lets you tap out. Then board, take off, and fly. Quitting mid-session isn't pausing a timer. It's crashing the flight. The distance you covered still counts - but you didn't land. Every flight logs to your personal travel history. Completed flights. Crashed flights. Destinations reached. —— SHIELD CUSTOMIZATION - New The screen you see when you try to open a blocked app now looks exactly how you want it. Choose a persona - Drill Sergeant, Monk, Coach - or build your own: custom text, colors, icon. Turn on Randomized Experience and it changes every time you hit a block, so it never goes stale. —— ATTENTION FORECAST - New A predictive score on your home screen: how is today likely to go? Based on last night's sleep, your 28-day usage trend, your current streak, and your blocking discipline. One number, before the day starts. —— Update now. Your next flight departs when you're ready.

Really Good

I just did the premium subscription and I can already tell it is going to be well worth the money. I do wish there was a way to do an unscheduled session. Like if something lands in front of you that you need to focus on you can just start a session that lasts an hour or two without having to create a recurring schedule.

Response from developer

Hi! Thank you so much for subscribing to Premium-we're really glad to hear you're enjoying the app already! 😊 Good news: we actually have exactly this feature! It's called Focus Session You can find it in the bottom-right corner of the home screen. It lets you start a one-time focus session for as long as you need, without creating a recurring schedule. If you need any other help or have any questions, feel free to email us at git@thejoltapp.com. We're always happy to help!

Money

I don’t wanna pay

App WAS great

Hard Mode used to be free. Now it’s locked behind a paywall. Unfortunately, I will be uninstalling, as this completely defeats the purpose of the sessions. If you are struggling to focus, a few quick games aren’t going to stop you from accessing a problem app.

Let me know when you fix this.

Response from developer

This is fair feedback and we appreciate you saying it directly. Hard Mode did move to Pro in this version - and you're right that it used to be free. It's the deepest level of blocking we offer, and keeping it reliable across iOS updates takes real investment. On Friction Games - they are designed around behavioural science, specifically the gap between impulse and action. They work differently from Hard Mode, not instead of it. Hard Mode is for people who know they'll find a way around everything else. We're building more science-backed friction options with that same user in mind. We'd genuinely like you to stay. Reach out to us at hello@thejoltapp.com, and we'll make it right. And if Hard Mode returning to free is something enough users need, that's a conversation worth having internally.

Not really worth it

There’s a couple bugs that really makes it annoying (randonly), suspicious that this is prob AI generated app, tbh not much more
Useful than the built in screen time

Actually helpful

Just the right amount of friction to add, and to direct attention towards goals of the greater self.
