Streamlined & Simple!
Just press record is easy and simple to use. I'm using it to write this review right now. I like the automatic transcription feature. It lets me dictate into my phone and then copy and paste the text into a document, where I can edit it and polish it up. The automatic cloud sinking is great. I like knowing that my recordings are backed and then I'm not going to lose any data.

Good but
Better than Voice Memos for backing them up, just wish it was easier to update the name like voice memo. Double click and you’re done.
Plus if I could pause or stop the memos WITHOUT opening my phone on the lock screen.

Disappointing
I was mostly looking for a tool I could convert to text then run it through AI to reformat for me. Unfortunately, the conversation to text has been poor…once out of a 5min recording it was only able to pull a single word into text. Frankly, Apple Note does pretty much everything this is supposed to do but better with text..and now with improvements to Siri/AI, not sure this has any purpose.

After years of usefulness. it’s stopped.
I’m a writer and I’ve dictated and transcribed thousands of words over the years with this app. I’ve recommended it to my writer friends and colleagues. However, some time this past year, this app has stopped transcribing. I dictate/record but is unable to transcribe any bit of dictation, even in quiet rooms with clean recordings. Very disappointing considering I’d paid for it and it’s been a tool for years. What would have been 5-stars is now a 1-star, and an app I wouldn’t recommend. For that, I’ll average it out to a 3-star since it might fit other people’s needs as just a recorder.

FINALLY, an app that records in stereo!
I have a handful of recording apps on my iPad 2nd Generation, and at least one of them claims to record in stereo. (Pro tip: If you record a video in landscape mode (“sideways”), you will also get stereo audio on many newer devices, especially iPhones!) But the one in particular I’m thinking about right now only utilizes one microphone, therefore records in mono (in fairness, I’m waiting to hear back from them, as to if I’m doing something wrong).
But the reason this is important to me is that I like to record nature sounds, and recording via video uses copious amounts of memory (not surprising, of course). And be apprised that recording two channels of audio will use twice as much memory as recording in mono. But it’s still a lot less memory used than in video mode! There is a way to set the app to record in mono or stereo on the main screen, so make sure you utilize the setting for whatever way you wish.
Now on to the transcription function. Hey, this app uses the same speech function as AutoCorrect, so let the sometimes-hilarious transcriptions ensue! Haha! (I’m actually typing my review here, to ensure fewer mistakes, BTW.)
But this app gets the full 5 stars from me for ease of use, and outstanding results!
