Great concept, needs improvement

I like having a digital version of a Kakebo and will continue to use this for the time being, but the app is not without issues.
There is an option to add reoccurring charges with a date that it is set to hit. The only problem is, the system then adds this charge every day which throws off everything. I opened the app this morning and was stunned to see that I was 3k over budget…and then realized that my rent entry had been duplicated several times.

There is also no option to edit the name of or delete categories once they have been deleted. I accidentally created an expense category when I meant to create a savings goal and now I can’t remove the error.

Again, love the idea and I’ll keep with it because this is more convenient than paper but it needs some minor fixes.

Did not bring me joy

After downloading the app and registering with my email address, I waited for the confirmation email so I could begin using it. ...and waited. ...and waited. ...and waited some more. The email never arrived, and I was locked out of the app.
Very disappointing and makes me wonder if this app is legitimate.

Not a good app

I really wanted to like this app because the Kakebo concept and no longer wanted to keep tracking in a paper book. The functionality of this app is terrible. Reoccurring itemizations either don’t show up or duplicate themselves on dates that aren’t even related to a date I entered. It is cumbersome (takes multiple clicks) to go back to a previous month and this is amplified if you forget to add several expenses to that previous month. This app is just not worth your time.

Skeptical at first, now I consider every expense

As someone who LOVES automation, I thought the concept of Kakebo would be antiquated.

With Apple Pay, Amazon 1-click, etc., I was purchasing things without even realizing it. Kakebo has me in the habit of adding my purchases manually, much like health apps have me entering my calorie intake.

They say writing things down helps you remember even if you don’t re-read what you wrote down. Entering expenses on Kakebo has, in turn, made me contemplate what is needed when I am about to checkout.

Funny enough, the reduction of expenses has also been a reduction in calorie intake for me. Opting out of a pastry before the morning meeting = double win!
