About

A planner that reads like a typewritten diary. Kalend holds four things in one place — your to-do list, your real calendar, the habits you are building, and a private journal — and it is made to be read rather than managed. Two typefaces, ruled lines, ink on paper. Nothing pulses, nothing badges you red, nothing asks for attention it has not earned. Colour appears only when it is telling you something. It is a native app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and it syncs through your own iCloud. There is no Kalend account, because there is no Kalend server. A TO-DO LIST THAT SURVIVES A REAL WEEK - Projects, priorities and due dates - Repeats that actually repeat: daily, weekdays, chosen days, monthly, yearly, or every few days - Pending and Done kept apart, so finished work leaves your view without disappearing - Fell behind? Move one overdue task, or all of them, to today in a single tap - Type "gym tomorrow 6pm" and Kalend works out the title, the date and the time. It runs on your device, so it works on a plane. YOUR CALENDAR, NOT A COPY OF IT - Reads your real calendars — work, personal, shared — and shows them beside the tasks due that day - Your events stay in your own accounts. Kalend never copies or uploads them. - Keep your own appointments too, with colours, reminders and repeats - Track shifts or anything recurring: hold an appointment and copy it, and only the date needs changing HABITS, WITH STREAKS THAT FORGIVE - Every day, chosen weekdays, a number of times a week, or every few days - Grace days absorb a miss, because missing one day does not undo a habit - A calendar of the year you can tap to correct, and a record you can trust: kept, rate, longest run - Progress toward 66 days — the median researchers actually measured for a habit to become automatic, not the popular but unsupported "21 days" - A written line each morning, on the days that need one A JOURNAL YOU WILL ACTUALLY READ BACK - Newest day first, the way a diary is kept - Headings, bullets, numbered lists, checkboxes, quotes and dividers - Written in the same typeface you will read it in - Search everything you have ever written - Word counts, and a note of how long you have kept it up ON EVERY SCREEN YOU OWN - On iPad and Mac the sections stand down the side, and habits and journal open as two panes — the list stays put while you read - Keyboard shortcuts throughout - Apple Watch app for ticking off today's habits - Home Screen widgets with buttons that work in place, and a Control Centre button for capture in one press - Siri and Shortcuts REMINDERS THAT KEEP - Habit reminders are standing arrangements. They do not quietly expire because you did not open the app. - One morning note with what the day holds, if you would rather have that than a reminder for every item - Everything arrives in one Kalend stack rather than filling your lock screen PRIVATE BY DESIGN - No account. You never create a login. - No Kalend server. Sync runs through your personal iCloud, in a private database only you can read. - No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party code of any kind - Works offline. Every feature, no connection, syncing when you are back. NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO IN-APP PURCHASES, NO ADS Everything described above is included. Nothing is limited, locked, counted or held back for later. Kalend requires iOS 18 and works on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Apple Watch app requires watchOS 11.

What's New in Kalend

1.2

August 26, 2026

Kalend now runs properly on iPad and Mac — and reminders no longer run out. REMINDERS THAT KEEP • Habit reminders used to stop after about a week if you didn't open the app. They're now standing arrangements that never expire. • One morning brief, if you want it, instead of a reminder for every item. • Reminders group into one Kalend stack rather than filling your lock screen, and they sound like Kalend — the key strike and the carriage-return bell. • A task reminder now offers "Tomorrow" as well as "Snooze", because at 10pm the honest answer is rarely "in an hour". IPAD AND MAC • The four sections stand down the side instead of a phone tab bar squeezed across the bottom. • Habits and Journal open as two panes: the list stays put while you read. • Type is set a step larger, so a line is a comfortable length again. • Keyboard shortcuts: ⌘1–4 for sections, ⌘N for new, ⌘, for settings. • Kalend runs on a Mac. THE LOOK • Every tab opens on the one number that tab is about. • The paper has grain, the way paper does. • Empty screens are drawn now, not printed with a zero. • The habit calendar, the habit editor, the appointment editor and the onboarding pages all speak the same language as everything else. • Journal entries are set in one typeface end to end — you write in the face you'll read them in. FIXED • The habit calendar was hard to tap. Its cells were a third under the minimum size with dead gaps between them. • Habits set to a weekly target showed an empty record. They count properly now. • Choosing Dark did nothing until you relaunched. • Typing in the journal made two sounds at once. • The habit editor's selected icon was invisible.
