KarlTrain shows Caltrain: where the trains are right now, when the next one leaves, and when yours gets in. LIVE TRAINS Every train in service on a map, drawn from the 511.org real-time feed. Tap one to see exactly which station it is at and every stop it will make. Northbound and southbound trains are told apart by colour and by which track they sit on. DEPARTURES The whole service day between two stations, with express, limited and local marked. Minutes until departure is the number you read; the clock time is there when you want it. Trains that have already gone stay on the board, dimmed, so the day keeps its shape. ARRIVING NOW Which trains are standing at your platform or pulling in — the question you ask from the top of the station steps, which a departure time cannot answer. LEAVE-NOW REMINDERS A notification a set number of minutes before you need to set off. It follows the train's live times, so a delay moves the reminder rather than firing it early. WAKE ME AT MY STOP An alarm before your station, so you can sleep or read. Plus a reminder to tag off Clipper, which charges the full line if you forget. Both are off until you switch them on. SERVICE ALERTS Caltrain's alerts for your stations and your train. If you change onto BART at Millbrae, Muni Metro at 4th and King, or VTA at Mountain View, Diridon or Tamien, those alerts appear too — rail only, so a moved bus stop three counties away does not bury the one that matters. RIDER REPORTS A broken toilet, a full bike car, no air conditioning. None of it is in any feed and all of it changes whether you board. SHARE A RIDE A link that shows whoever is meeting you where the train is. It follows the train, not you, and expires after six hours. WORKS WITHOUT LOCATION Location is off by default. With it off the app is a timetable: which way you are going comes from the clock and your two stations. Turn it on and it routes from where you actually are — walking, driving, parking.
